Alvin Kamara Injury Update: Latest on Saints Star After Exiting in Week 8 vs. Buccaneers

Saints RB Alvin Kamara came up injured late in the first half against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. What happened to Kamara?

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has made it quite clear that he wants to remain with the Saints and not be included in any trade talks. On Sunday at the Caesars Superdome against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kamara was doing his best to lead his team to a win against a division rival.

Yet things started out slowly for the Saints against quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers. In fact, the Saints were behind 7-3 at halftime.

What’s Wrong With Saints Alvin Kamara?

Kamara got injured late in the first half after Tampa Bay’s Lavonte David tackled him, and the star running back came off the field.

Upon reviewing the play from New Orleans, Dr. Tom Christ offered his thoughts on what might have happened to Kamara. Christ also offers some insights into what Kamara’s future might look like.

“Seeing possible issues on both legs,” Christ wrote in a post on X. “Defender lands on the lateral portion of his left ankle/leg, can see an eversion moment which can lead to a high ankle sprain. Hard to see the left knee but sometimes this can also stress the MCL Right knee slams into the ground while flexed and moves into even more flexion.

“Which can stress the PCL,” Christ wrote. “He actually looked to be favoring the right leg in the short clip of him walking off. Let’s hope he’s okay”.

According to the PFSN RB Impact Score metrics, Kamara has a 73.5 RB Impact Score and grades out with a C.

One fan was watching the play on the field and had a response to it. “Oh, weird Lavonte David with a dirty hip drop tackle on Alvin Kamara.”

At this point, it is not clear if Kamara will be back on the field for the second half against the Buccaneers. So far on Sunday, Kamara has had two catches for 24 yards and three carries for 12 yards. Kamara also had three rushes for 12 yards, too, behind Saints starting quarterback Spencer Rattler.

If Kamara cannot play in the second half, the Saints, who entered Sunday’s game with a 1-5 record, will have to find another option in the backfield, possibly Devin Neal. The Saints desperately need a win, and Kamara is one player that New Orleans knows it can trust when the going gets tough.
