The Indianapolis Colts wasted no time making their big move of free agency, bringing back one of the top receivers in free agency, Alec Pierce. Pierce was expected to be a hot commodity on the market, but the Colts didn’t allow him the chance to explore options and gave him a massive payday. Here are the details on Pierce’s new four-year deal with Indianapolis.
Alec Pierce’s Contract and Salary
Pierce and the Colts reached an agreement on a four-year, $116 million deal with only $84 million guaranteed. This makes him the highest free agent WR signing in NFL history. It’s not the highest salary that a receiver is making, but the highest of someone who hit free agency.
The details of the contract have yet to be revealed, but it holds an average of $29 million per season. This places him as the 11th-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL.

This deal could look like the deal that Tyreek Hill inked with the Dolphins, where the backend of the deal will contain a higher salary. This could mean a very highly paid fourth year and a potential void year in case the Colts are interested in getting out of the contract early.
The Colts were going to have to pony up cash to keep Pierce around. They did that and Pierce just earned himself a pretty penny. Pierce’s first contract in the NFL was worth just $6.6 million leaving his net worth somewhere around that number. It just skyrocketed with his new deal.
Pierce had a career year for Indianapolis in 2025, racking up career-highs of 47 receptions and 1,003 receiving yards. He was the 9th-ranked receiver in PFSN’s WR Impact Metric with an impact score of 84.6. He was a dynamic threat who posed a serious threat to opposing defenses with his speed.
The Colts aren’t going to be done in free agency, as they need to work on locking down Daniel Jones to a long-term deal.
Jones will be on the Colts unless a team gives him an offer that Indianapolis will not match because of the transition tag that they placed on him. Regardless of Jones being in Indianapolis, the Colts QB in 2026 will have Pierce as one of his top targets.
