After lengthy discussions, A.J Brown will remain a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, at least for a few more months. The Eagles did not strike a deal with any of the teams interested in the wide receiver during the first days of the new league year, and Brown is expected to remain until the draft.
A. J. Brown Confirmed To Remain With the Philadelphia Eagles Until June
In 2025, Brown had his worst season with the Eagles amid many off-field distractions, and the year ended with a disappointing Wild Card Round loss. He was unhappy with his role in Kevin Patullo’s offense, and his relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts soured due to personal issues. A trade seemed likely.
Rumors pointed to the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams as interested parties.
But Brown, who’s under contract until 2030, wouldn’t be moved without a good offer. The Eagles held firm, and with no deal done, Ian Rapoport now says that any trade could be postponed until June:
“A.J. Brown’s situation, I would say, there were various points that I really firmly believed that A.J. Brown was going to be traded. There were four teams that were interested. In the end, probably two, the Rams were one that looked deeply and ultimately decided that it was not for them. They’re essentially out on this situation.”
“And the New England Patriots, who have had consistent dialogue with the Eagles and A.J. Brown, they’re still in it. If the Eagles trade him after June 1, that’s just 20 million dollars. It makes sense to the Eagles, if they’re going to trade Brown, trading him after June 1 would make sense.”

Brown, who ranked as No. 21 in our PFSN WR Impact Metric during the 2025 season, would accelerate a $43.5 million dead cap if he’s moved to another team until June 1.

However, the number would spread between 2026 and 2027 if a deal is reached after this date, with the Eagles incurring a $16.4 million dead cap for the season.
The Eagles already lost Jahan Dotson to free agency, and there are no additions to the roster at the position. They are likely to add a wide receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft, even if they don’t use a first-round pick.
EDGE and offensive tackle are also positions of need in April.
The Patriots already added Romeo Doubs during free agency, but they also released Stefon Diggs, the No. 4 receiver in 2025 per PFSN’S WR Impact Metric, due to salary cap reasons. Brown would instantly slot as the No. 1 receiver to continue with Drake Maye’s development.
