AFC North Playoff Scenarios: Ravens and Steelers Locked in 2-Way Battle After Baltimore’s Week 11 Win

It wasn’t an easy Sunday at the park for either the Baltimore Ravens or Pittsburgh Steelers and they went out and did their best to remain as the top combatants for the AFC North Division lead.

The Ravens had to turn back a challenge from backup quarterback Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns, but escaped Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland with a 23-16 victory. As for Pittsburgh, backup quarterback Mason Rudolph came on in relief of the injured Aaron Rodgers and helped the Steelers turn back the Cincinnati Bengals 34-12.

After a busy Sunday, how do things stand when it comes to the AFC North’s playoff picture?

Steelers, Ravens Stay Locked In AFC North Battle

After the win, Pittsburgh goes to 6-4 overall while Baltimore now sits 5-5 overall.

According to the PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor metrics on Sunday, the Steelers, following their victory, have a 64.7% chance of making the NFL playoffs and a 56.0% chance of winning the AFC North.

As for Baltimore, the Ravens have a 48.0% chance of making the NFL playoffs and a 42.6% chance of winning the AFC North.

Even with the updated percentages, it’s pretty clear that both Pittsburgh and Baltimore are determined to stay focused on reaching the NFL playoffs. Even more, both teams really want to take home the AFC North Division title and add it to their long lists of franchise accomplishments.

The Steelers will have to assess the severity of Rodgers’ injury. He left Sunday’s game with a wrist injury and didn’t return at all. If his injury is severe enough, Rudolph will likely receive the call again next week.

As for the Ravens, they need to make sure that star running back Derrick Henry remains a central part of their offensive plans. Henry had 18 carries for 103 yards and one touchdown against the Browns. As for Jackson, he was 14-of-25 passing for 193 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. Jackson also had four carries for 10 yards rushing.

According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, Pittsburgh has an NFL Offense Impact Score of 75.9, grading out to a C. Baltimore has an NFL Offense Impact Score of 72.5, grading out to a C-.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and Ravens head coach John Harbaugh know how to get their teams ready for a stretch run. When they look at film from Sunday’s wins, they will see areas that need improvement.

As the AFC North Division title race tightens, these percentages are expected to change in the coming weeks. Both teams aim to increase their chances of making the NFL postseason. It’s going to be a race worth watching for both Ravens and Steelers fans.
