Adam Thielen is on the open market after the Minnesota Vikings agreed to release the two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, granting a request for him to be let go as the 35-year-old seeks a more substantial role in an offense in his final NFL season.
There are three teams that stand out as potential landing spots for Thielen as he looks to try to extend his career into the postseason.

What Are The Best Landing Spots for Adam Thielen?
The end of Thielen’s second stint with the Vikings came under four months after Minnesota traded draft picks in 2026 and 2027 to the Carolina Panthers to acquire his services.
Scrutiny of that move will be part of the debrief for the Vikings when they come to reflect on a dreadful season. For Thielen, though, the focus will be on finding a destination where he can receive targets and a chance to go out on top with a Lombardi Trophy.
Carolina Panthers
A return to Carolina would be an enticing prospect for Thielen, who developed an impressive rapport with Panthers quarterback Bryce Young down the stretch last season.
Thielen racked up 1,629 receiving yards and nine touchdowns during his two seasons with the Panthers. His exit this offseason made sense following the selection of Tetairoa McMillan in the first round of this year’s draft and the flashes Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker showed in 2024.
But neither Legette nor Coker has taken the step forward the Panthers might have envisaged, making a reunion with a receiver of Thielen’s experience and route-running savvy a potentially appealing prospect, especially considering his understanding with Young.
New England Patriots
Unexpectedly, the best destination for Thielen to fulfil his desire to win a title might be Foxborough.
Riding a 10-game winning streak, the Patriots right now look to be motoring towards the top seed in the AFC.

While Stefon Diggs is the clear top receiver for the Patriots, quarterback Drake Maye does an excellent job of spreading the ball around to his supplementary passing game weapons.
The Patriots rank ninth in PFSN’s Impact Metrics on offense, reflecting their substantial improvement on that side of the ball as well as the room for growth they still have.
Thielen would surely love the chance to resume his partnership with former Vikings teammate Diggs. Though the Patriots also have Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, Demario Douglas, and Kyle Williams on the roster, there is space on the depth chart for Thielen, whose reliability and veteran presence could be extremely useful for Maye as he enters his first postseason.
Buffalo Bills
The Bills have already made one move to bring in a veteran wide receiver, signing Brandin Cooks last week following his release by the New Orleans Saints.
But with Joshua Palmer dealing with an ankle injury, there is scope for the Bills to add another wideout into the mix and prevent Allen from having to rely on inexperienced players such as Tyrell Shavers.
The case can be made that tight end Dalton Kincaid is the focal point of the Buffalo passing attack, rather than the wide receivers. Yet Josh Allen would likely still enjoy having a receiver with Thielen’s high floor as part of his attack as the Bills look to find their stride heading into the stretch run.
Buffalo may not have found its best, but the chance to play with Allen in Western New York would represent an excellent opportunity for Thielen to end his career with a title.
