Aaron Rodgers Injury Update: What Happened to the Steelers QB During Pregame Warmups?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping to get back to winning ways after a disappointing conclusion to the first game Aaron Rodgers played against the Green Bay Packers in his career.

A clash against the 7-1 Indianapolis Colts, though, was going to be a tough ordeal to overcome. Unfortunately, right before their game, it appears that the organization had to deal with a major issue concerning their four-time MVP at quarterback.

    What Happened to Aaron Rodgers?

An extremely healthy individual for most of his Hall of Fame-worthy career, Rodgers only missed significant time in his first year with the New York Jets. However, this year, there were extreme concerns regarding his health.

A porous offensive line for the Steelers, combined with his age, seemed like a recipe for disaster. Fortunately, an excellent game plan from offensive coordinator Arthur Smith was getting the job done in keeping Rodgers safe.

However, before the game against the Colts, concerns began to mount. The NFL on CBS broadcast noted a startling development: “Aaron Rodgers may have injured his hand during warmups.”

The bizarre nature of the injury left Matt Ryan in shock. “I’ve never had anything like this happen, particularly with my throwing hand.” While Ryan was unsure of the exact nature of the injury, he speculated that it may have been caused by a snap gone awry.

Dallas Cowboys icon, Tony Romo, was in the booth alongside Ryan, and he believed it could have been a case of taking a snap from the backup center that caused the problem for Rodgers. However, the former Super Bowl champion continued throwing the ball in practice before starting the game for Pittsburgh.

For the time being, it appears that the Steel City has avoided disaster, but Rodgers’ performance will be one to watch throughout the game. The four-time NFL MVP is currently the 17th-ranked quarterback in the league based on PFSN’s QB Impact metric.

Thankfully, the injury didn’t seem to bother him, as the Steelers registered arguably their best win of the season, defeating the Colts 27-20. Rodgers, on his end, had 203 passing yards and one touchdown for the game.

While it might not sound like much on the stat sheet, three interceptions on Daniel Jones made it easy for Pittsburgh to focus on eliminating mistakes. They were able to do that and bring home the victory to maintain their lead in the AFC North.
