Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown has been battling a hamstring injury over the past few weeks. While the bye week gave him some much-needed time to recover, it’s still uncertain when he’ll be ready to return. If they can get him back this week, it would provide a significant boost for Philadelphia’s offense ahead of their Monday night matchup with the Green Bay Packers.
Why Did A.J. Brown Miss Weeks 8 and 9?
Brown’s hamstring problems aren’t new. They’ve followed him throughout his career. The latest flare-up began late in training camp, and although he played through the first seven games, the pain eventually forced him to sit out. After missing three straight practices, Brown was ruled out ahead of Week 8 and remained sidelined in Week 9.
Luckily for Brown and the Eagles, their Week 9 bye couldn’t have come at a better time. The extra rest gave the All-Pro receiver a chance to recover without pushing his limits or risking further injury, while also setting up the possibility of Philadelphia adding its star wideout back to an offense that’s finally finding its rhythm, currently ranked 11 on PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric.
Is Brown Actually Ready to Go in Week 10?
The last official update on the former Ole Miss standout’s Week 10 status came on Oct. 25, just one day after he was ruled out for Week 8.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “Although A.J. Brown already has been ruled out for Sunday’s game vs. the Giants, the Eagles have a bye next week and their Pro Bowl wide receiver is expected to have a realistic chance to return the following week for a Monday night game vs. the Packers, per sources.”
Later that night, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reaffirmed Schefter’s report. “WR AJ Brown, who is out Sunday against the Giants, is likely going to be back after the bye for the Nov. 10 game against the Packers, sources say.”
An encouraging update to say the least, and while details have been limited since then, tomorrow’s practice report should provide more clarity on his recovery and potential return for Week 10.
For now, all we can do is speculate on how the seventh-year wideout is feeling. Here’s what the doctors on X had to say:
According to Dr. Jesse Morse, a trusted voice in the Fantasy Football space, on Oct. 29th, “There’s a good chance Quinshon Judkins and AJ Brown return in Week 10.”
On Monday, Dr. David J. Chao, known as ProFootballDoc, added that Brown’s hamstring issue appears mild and that he “has a reasonable chance” to play, noting that the receiver has previously played through similar injuries.
Still, talk only goes so far. Fans and analysts can speculate all they want, but the real answer will come when tomorrow’s practice report drops.
