Sparks Star’s Kelsey Plum’s Hilarious 2-Word Message to Caitlin Clark Fan Goes Viral

Los Angeles Sparks star Kelsey Plum creates internet buzz with humorous and candid fan interactions amidst a challenging 2025 WNBA season.

The Los Angeles Sparks are enduring a challenging 2025 season, and June 29 added another chapter to their struggles. The team suffered its 12th loss in a heartbreaking 92-85 defeat against the Chicago Sky. While the loss undoubtedly stung, a pregame interaction involving Sparks guard Kelsey Plum and a fan has since captured widespread attention online, offering a moment of levity amidst the team’s ongoing difficulties.

Kelsey Plum’s Viral Courtside Moment

In a video rapidly gaining traction across the internet, Plum is seen interacting with a fan courtside before the game at Crypto.com Arena. The surprising element of the exchange was the fan’s choice of attire: a Caitlin Clark t-shirt, despite Clark and the Indiana Fever not playing that night.

Instead of ignoring the fan, Plum, a three-time All-Star, injected humor into the moment. With a playful grin, she handed the fan a Los Angeles Sparks shirt and delivered a concise, now-viral message: “Do better.” The interaction concluded with both sharing a laugh and posing for a photo.

This lighthearted moment offered a welcome contrast to a less-than-pleasant fan interaction Plum experienced just days prior. Outside the Sparks’ team hotel, a fan approached her for an autograph on trading cards. What began as a routine request quickly turned awkward when the fan admitted to locating Plum by spotting the team bus.

Plum was visibly unsettled and did not mince words. “Don’t y’all find that kind of weird?” she asked, expressing clear discomfort. “I’m really turned off right now, I’m not going to lie.”

Explaining the Discomfort

Plum’s teammate, Dearica Hamby, later provided additional context on X (formerly Twitter) regarding why the hotel encounter was unsettling.

“There is context to this. We literally left for practice and changed hotels… so to be there the moment we got there after SWITCHING hotels without being like HEY WE’RE SWITCHING HOTELS was weird,” Hamby wrote, highlighting the unusual and potentially concerning nature of the fan’s persistence.

As for the June 29 game itself, the Sparks started strong, concluding the first quarter with a narrow one-point lead. However, the Sky surged ahead by halftime, establishing a six-point advantage. The Sparks mounted a comeback in the third quarter, even leading by seven points at one stage. Despite this rally, their momentum faded in the fourth quarter, allowing the Sky to secure the victory.

Plum, who joined the Sparks in January 2025 via a three-team trade, has been one of the few bright spots in what has been a difficult season for Los Angeles. She is currently averaging 20.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game. The Sparks will now turn their attention to their next matchup, a challenging road game against the New York Liberty on July 3 at Barclays Center.
