Is Paige Bueckers Playing Tonight vs. Sparks? Latest Injury Update on Dallas Wings Star

Paige Bueckers' status remains uncertain ahead of Friday's game vs. the Sparks as she works through concussion protocol. Will she suit up in time?

Paige Bueckers’ injury traces back to the Wings’ 97-92 loss to the Chicago Sky on May 29.

No one’s pinpointed the exact moment, but all eyes go to a tough collision late in the first half, Bueckers drove hard to the rim and took a shot to the head while bumping into Courtney Vandersloot. She didn’t check out, though.

Instead, she powered through and dropped one of her strongest stat lines this season: 15 points, five boards, eight dimes, three steals, and three blocks on 6-of-11 shooting.

“You know, she didn’t really say anything. And then yesterday, after the game, she said she was feeling like she had a headache,” head coach Chris Koclanes told reporters. “And then said a couple things about, ‘I was hit this time and that time.’ That was the first of it. So once that was said, then right to the doctor and make sure we are not missing anything.”

The question remains — will she return tonight to face the Los Angeles Sparks?

Paige Bueckers Remains Out for Friday’s Game

Since the injury, Bueckers has missed matchups against the Sky and the Seattle Storm. She was seen participating in non-contact drills and shooting competitions at practice on Thursday, but it appears that her status remains unchanged for Friday’s game against the Sparks.

Bueckers will sit this one out, marking her third-straight absence, as she remains stuck in concussion protocols.

Bueckers’ Early Production Stands Out Despite Team Struggles

Even after missing some time, Paige Bueckers has looked every bit like the top pick everyone expected her to be. Through her first six games in the WNBA, she’s putting up 14.7 points, 4.7 boards, 6.7 assists, two steals, and a block per night — all while leading every rookie in scoring, assists, and steals, and sitting just behind the leader in blocks.

Her breakout moment came in a win over the Connecticut Sun earlier this month. Bueckers dropped 21 points, grabbed five boards, dished five assists, and did it all while shooting an outrageous 80% from the field. No rookie had done that since 2005.

And she’s making history along the way. Bueckers is the first player in league history to record at least 80 points and 40 assists in their first six games.

Dallas has yet to find its rhythm, starting the season 1-7 and going 0-2 in games without Bueckers. Expectations were high after the front office hired Latricia Trammell’s former assistant, Koclanes, and traded for DiJonai Carrington, NaLyssa Smith, Tyasha Harris, and Myisha Hines-Allen.

For now, all eyes are on Bueckers’ status and how soon she can clear concussion protocol.
