CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens Break Silence On Who Is Cowboys’ WR1 After Blockbuster Trade

Cowboys stars CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens addressed the debate as to who the true No. 1 receiver on the team really is.

The Dallas Cowboys sought a wide receiver to complement CeeDee Lamb for much of the offseason. However, their search yielded no positive results. They did not sign a notable receiver in free agency, nor did they draft one. And then the bomb dropped. The Cowboys traded for George Pickens in a stunning deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pickens joins forces with Lamb in Texas for the 2025 season. With this move came a bit of internet discourse. Which receiver is the true No. 1? Is it the incumbent Lamb, or the 24-year-old newcomer Pickens? The two receivers chimed in with their own thoughts recently.

Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens Enter WR1 Debate

Lamb and Pickens attended a baseball game recently when a reporter asked a few questions. The debate over who the top pass catcher on the team is inevitably came up. Of course, they didn’t take a side. They stood firm on the idea that both are elite pass catchers that defenses must worry about.

“We both ones. It ain’t no A/B, none of that. You look over there, there’s one. You look over here, you see another one. So do what you gotta do with that,” Lamb said, via DLLS Cowboys.

Pickens has echoed a similar sentiment in the past. He is not interested in setting a hierarchy in the Dallas locker room. He wants to put in the work on the field, win games, and hopefully play for a Super Bowl on his new team.

“You guys making a 1A and 1B and all this, honestly, that’s the first time I’ve heard of any of that stuff,” Pickens said, via team staff writer Tommy Yarrish. “I feel like two receivers are kind of normal. When I used to watch football, there was always a good receiver, and then there was another good receiver on the side of him. I just feel like we’re going to work off each other very well.”

Lamb and Pickens should have no issues on the field. The two-star pass catchers have known each other for quite some time. This pre-established chemistry could certainly go a long way toward helping Dallas go on the sort of playoff run that has eluded them for decades.

“Just training,” Pickens said of how he met Lamb, via Yarrish. “No recruiting visits or anything like that, but all of us receivers kind of have certain trainers and some of us have the same trainers, so definitely training together previously.”

Dallas struggled mightily last season when Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott went down with injuries. Those injuries exposed the team’s lack of depth at receiver behind Lamb. It made adding another dynamic pass catcher a priority this offseason.

Pickens and Lamb have the ability to dominate on the field. They could both perform like No. 1 options in the passing game once the 2025 season kicks off, and the results are the only thing the two stars are worried about. Winning games and competing for a Super Bowl are the main goals for this star-studded duo.
