Venus Williams’ boyfriend, Andrea Preti, and Reilly Opelka recently crossed paths in Rome. Opelka and Williams are close  friends, and the two tennis players were rumored to be dating. However, the former World No. 1 denied the claims.

Williams and Preti have been dating for nearly a year, with the couple first being spotted together in July 2024. Preti, who was born in Denmark, moved to Italy with his family when he was a teenager.

Venus Williams’ Boyfriend Andrea Preti Meets With Reilly Opelka in Rome

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, Williams’ boyfriend, Preti, took to social media to share a picture of himself with Opelka. He captioned the image, expressing that it was “nice” to see the American in Rome. The former World No. 17 is in Rome for the 2025 Italian Open.

“So nice to have you in Roma. @reillyopelka let’s go 🔨🔨🔨🔨,” Preti captioned his Instagram story.

On the tennis side, Opelka’s best result in the 2025 season is a runner-up finish at the Brisbane International. He also reached the quarterfinals of the Dallas Open. Opelka most recently competed at the 2025 Open Aix Provence and advanced to the quarterfinals after wins over Kyrian Jacquet and eighth seed Corentin Moutet. Here, he faced qualifier Ignacio Buse and was trailing 6-7(4), 3-2 when he retired from the match.

Reilly Opelka Scheduled to Next Compete at Italian Open 2025

Opelka is set to compete at the 2025 Italian Open, scheduled to take place from May 6 to May 18, 2025 at the Foro Italico in Rome. The American secured a spot in the main draw of the tournament by using a protected ranking. Besides him, players such as defending champion Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner, Taylor Fritz, Carlos Alcaraz, and Alex de Minaur will also feature in the Masters 1000 event.

Opelka’s last appearance at the Italian Open was in 2022, where he faced a 6-3, 5-7, 2-6 defeat to Stan Wawrinka in the first round. His best performance at the Masters 1000 tournament came in 2021, when he reached the semifinals.

The former World No. 17 defeated Richard Gasquet 6-1, 7-5, Lorenzo Musetti 6-4, 6-4, and Aslan Karatsev 7-6(4), 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals. Opelka then secured a 7-5, 7-6(2) win over qualifier Federico Delbonis to reach the semifinals, where he ultimately fell 4-6, 4-6 to the eventual champion, Rafael Nadal.

The American will enter the Italian Open with a 1-2 win-loss record on tour-level clay-court tournaments so far in 2025.
