How Tall Is Colston Loveland?

At the NFL Combine, Loveland measured exactly 6-foot-6. For comparison, the average NFL tight end is roughly 6-foot-4, so he’s slightly taller than average.

The tallest active tight end in the NFL is the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Zach Gentry, who stands 6-foot-8, while the shortest is Connor Heyward at 6-foot.

How Much Does Loveland Weigh?

Loveland weighed in at 248 pounds, just under the average for his position (254.3 pounds).
The heaviest NFL tight end is Trevon Wesco, who weighs 267. Darnell Washington and Ko Kieft follow close behind at 265 pounds each.

How Old Is Loveland?

Born on April 9, 2004, Loveland is 21 years old. With many 2025 draft prospects over 25, Loveland is among the youngest players in this year’s class.

What School Did Loveland Go To?

Loveland was born in Goldendale, Wash., but moved to Gooding, Idaho, as a child. He played high school football at Gooding High School and also excelled in basketball.
Loveland posted 235 receptions for 3,141 yards and 35 touchdowns at Gooding while also recording 57 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and two interceptions on defense.

Loveland was a high-profile recruit and the top-ranked prospect in Idaho. He received offers from several top programs, including Michigan, Alabama, LSU, and Oregon State, but ultimately committed to the Wolverines.

Revisiting Loveland’s College Career

As a freshman, Loveland appeared in 14 games for the Wolverines, starting six. He wasn’t a major factor in the offense, though, until his sophomore year, when he became a full-time starter.

Loveland developed strong chemistry with quarterback J.J. McCarthy and was a key contributor in Michigan’s College Football Playoff National Championship win in 2024.

As a junior, Loveland continued to produce, but a lack of consistent quarterback play and the team’s run-heavy scheme limited his numbers. He declared for the NFL Draft after his junior season, finishing his college career with 117 receptions for 1,466 yards and 11 touchdowns.

How Fast Was Loveland’s 40-Yard Dash?

Loveland did not participate in on-field drills at the NFL Combine as he recovered from a shoulder injury. However, according to NFL Draft Buzz, his estimated 40-yard dash time is 4.70 seconds — making him one of the faster tight ends in the 2025 class.

Where Did Loveland Project in Our NFL Mock Draft?

In last month’s two-round mock draft by PFSN’s Marco Enriquez, Loveland went No. 14 overall to the Indianapolis Colts.

“The Indianapolis Colts need to protect Anthony Richardson while also giving him a reliable weapon in the short and intermediate passing game. With Warren off the board just one pick ahead of them, Indianapolis turns to the next best option in Loveland.

“Loveland is a well-rounded tight end who excels as both a blocker and receiver. His strong hands, length, and speed make him a threat after the catch. Loveland’s route running and release technique need some refinement, but he’s a dangerous playmaker with the ball. Even with a thinner frame, he’s a serviceable blocker.”
