Indianapolis Colts running back Zack Moss is currently listed as questionable for today’s Week 8 matchup vs. the New Orleans Saints. Moss, who has been the lead back in the absence of Jonathan Taylor, has still maintained a fantasy-relevant role in recent weeks despite the return of Taylor.
Therefore, fantasy football managers will be sweating over Moss’ status heading into today’s game. Is Moss likely to play today? And, if he does not, what fantasy options should be considered over Moss?
Is Zack Moss Going To Play in Week 8?
Moss has logged an incredibly rare week when it comes to practicing. On Wednesday, he did not practice with separate heel and elbow injuries. However, he returned to practice on Thursday, albeit in a limited capacity.
Then, on Friday, Moss missed practice again. This left his status for today’s game right up in the air. While Moss is currently questionable to play, I would personally expect Moss not to be available for today’s game vs. the Saints due to the downturn in his status throughout the week.

Based on the report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Sunday morning, Moss is set to be a game-time decision against the Saints. If Moss did manage to suit up today, I would think it would be in a highly limited role with a very small snap count. I would not expect Moss to be fantasy-viable come Sunday evening.
Therefore, what are some other options for fantasy managers if Moss is out today?
Potential Fantasy Options if Moss Is Out Include Javonte Williams and D’Onta Foreman
With the likelihood of Moss either not playing today or playing in a heavily reduced capacity, fantasy managers should explore other options for Week 8. Moss is currently ranked as RB33 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings.
The first alternative option to be considered is Javonte Williams, who is currently the RB23 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings.
Williams would not normally be considered a fantasy option most weeks due to the committee in Denver. However, due to the weather conditions, Williams is likely to be a highly used option.
Adam Schefter of ESPN Network posted on X on Saturday, “Forecast for Sunday’s Chiefs-Broncos game in Denver calls for a high of 29 degrees, a low of 13 degrees, with 6-14 inches of snow, per the National Weather Service.”
With this forecast of snow and the volume of it, expect the Broncos to run the ball heavily. And, with Samaje Perine not getting a significant volume in this offense and Williams getting the first looks, Williams is likely to be a volume-based RB2 option for fantasy managers this week.

Another option for fantasy managers is D’Onta Foreman. The Chicago Bears running back is currently RB24 in PFN’s Consensus Rankings. Foreman appears to be the only fully healthy running back on the roster.
Roschon Johnson is off the injury report and back from concussion. However, he has missed a couple of games, and Foreman has looked good in the absence of Johnson and Khalil Herbert, who is currently on injured reserve.
Foreman is likely to get the first chances in the Bears offense on Sunday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers are currently conceding 20.6 fantasy points per game to fantasy running backs, which is the 13th-most in the NFL so far this season.
Foreman might have his upside capped if he does not start off well. However, should he carry on as he has done in the past couple of weeks, he is likely to finish as a RB2 this week.
Both of these options should be explored and played over Moss this week, regardless of whether he is on the Colts’ game-day roster or not. Therefore, fantasy managers should sit Moss this week.
