The Miami Dolphins offense has produced the RB2 and RB3 overall in fantasy football through the first five games of the 2023 NFL season.
However, with RB De’Von Achane potentially set to miss some time with a knee injury, how aggressively should you go after Jeff Wilson Jr. on your waiver wire in Week 6? Let’s take a closer look.

Should Jeff Wilson Jr. Be a Fantasy Waiver Wire Add in Week 6
The Dolphins’ backfield has been the real-life equivalent of hitting the lottery for fantasy managers.
In PPR formats, Raheem Mostert and Achane have combined for an absurd 207 fantasy points through Week 5. Collectively, they have produced 969 yards and 15 touchdowns. Again, this production has come from the same backfield in just five games!
It is also worth mentioning that Achane did not play the first week of the season and touched the ball only twice for nine yards in Week 2.
Unfortunately for fantasy managers who have been relying on Achane’s incredible start to his NFL career over the last three weeks, it appears he may be set to miss some time after sustaining a knee injury against the New York Giants in Week 5.
Dolphins RB De’Von Achane is expected to miss multiple weeks with his knee injury and is a candidate for injured reserve, per sources.

If Achane is going to miss time, we do expect a running back to work alongside Mostert while he is unavailable.
In 2022, that running back was Wilson, who finished the season as the RB30 in PPR formats with 1,045 total yards and six scores.

Wilson has started the 2023 campaign on injured reserve while dealing with a rib injury but is expected to return soon now that his 21-day practice window has been activated.
There were some hopes Wilson could’ve made it back to the team for last week’s game, but ultimately that didn’t come to fruition.
Wilson is certainly worth a speculative add out of the sheer possibility he resumes the same exact role he had last season in this Dolphins backfield. Ideally, he could reap the benefits of an offense that has been incredibly productive on the ground over the last three games.
However, I’m a bit hesitant to directly insert him into my fantasy lineup in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers for a couple of reasons.
First, there is no guarantee he simply picks up where he left off last season in his 2023 debut.
Second, there is some other competition in this backfield who could get some looks. Salvon Ahmed got some work in tandem with Mostert through the first two weeks, and undrafted free agent Chris Brooks looked great with his nine carries for 66 yards against the Denver Broncos back in Week 3.
Wilson is certainly worth an add, I would just prefer to take a cautious approach towards deploying him in my fantasy lineup this week.
