This week is the first of five games kicking off in Europe at 9:30 a.m. ET. The Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars play in London’s Wembley Stadium, and the game can be seen on ESPN+ and Disney+. A traditional version of the broadcast can be seen on ESPN+.
Disney+ will feature an animated alternate broadcast with a “Toy Story” theme where players will be transformed into characters from the movie. Drew Carter (play-by-play), Booger McFarland (analyst), and 12-year-old Pepper Persley (reporter) will call the action being played in Andy’s room.
From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!
Who Are the ESPN+ Announcers?
Chris Fowler, Dan Orlovsky, Louis Riddick, and Laura Rutledge will be calling the game from London. We’ve heard this crew do Monday night games the last couple of weeks on ESPN and ABC.
Fowler is the main play-by-play announcer for ESPN/ABC’s college football coverage. He is missing broadcasting college football this weekend to call the NFL game. Rece Davis replaced Fowler in the ABC booth for Saturday’s Notre Dame-Duke broadcast.
Before taking the lead play-by-play role, Fowler was the host of ESPN’s College GameDay when the show soared in popularity. He is also ESPN’s main announcer for the network’s coverage of the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open.
Orlovsky played 26 games at quarterback in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2005 to 2015. During his career, he had 15 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions in seven seasons.
Orlovsky joined ESPN in 2018 after starting his post-playing career at the NFL Network. He’s a daily contributor to ESPN’s NFL Live, along with providing analysis on ESPN’s morning shows and college football studio analysis on Saturdays.
Riddick was a safety in the NFLÂ with the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, and Oakland Raiders from 1991 to 1998. He had 172 tackles and two sacks in seven seasons. After his playing career, Riddick worked as a pro scout and director of pro personnel for Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles for 13 seasons. He joined ESPN in 2013 and has provided analysis for the network, including the NFL Draft.
Rutledge, who will be providing reports from the sidelines, has hosted NFL Live on ESPN since 2020. She joined ESPN as an SEC Network reporter in 2014. Rutledge is also the host of SEC Nation, the SEC-centric Saturday morning football preview show.
Why Was Dan Orlovsky Happy About a Safety?
Orlovsky will always be known for the infamous play he made in 2008. He was playing quarterback for the Lions when he tried to scramble away from Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Jared Allen and ran out of the end zone for a safety. You can see the play here.
Much to Orlovsky’s delight, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo stepped out of the end zone last season. He tweeted about someone making the same play.

Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew joined the club last week when he stepped out of the back on the end zone against the Baltimore Ravens. Orlovsky was again quick to share his enthusiasm on social media that someone else made the same play.Â
