Did Louis Riddick Play in the NFL?

Fans of Monday Night Football (MNF) will soon rehear the voice of Louis Riddick, as he’s part of the MNF doubleheader when he joins Chris Fowler and Dan Orlovsky for ESPN’s first game between the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers.

Riddick back in the broadcast booth is anticipated to be welcoming for fans who have missed him on MNF. Not only is Riddick hailed for being knowledgeable, but he uses his past experiences playing in the NFL to share that knowledge.

Louis Riddick’s NFL Career

There were four NFL teams that had Riddick on the roster. Here’s who.

San Francisco 49ers: The Niners were the team that brought him into the league out of the University of Pittsburgh. The 6’2″, 215-pound safety was a ninth-round selection in 1991 and went 248th overall.

Atlanta Falcons: Riddick stayed in the NFC West (during a time when the 49ers and Falcons were division rivals) the following year in 1992. It would become one of two stints with Atlanta, the second coming in 1996.

Cleveland Browns: Riddick has his longest NFL playing tenure with the Browns. He suited up for Cleveland from 1993 to 1995.

Oakland Raiders: The Silver and Black became Riddick’s final NFL playing stop. He played for the Raiders in 1998, which became his final season in the league.

In addition to the NFL, Riddick played in two other leagues: the World League of American Football (Sacramento Surge in 1992) and the XFL (Orlando Rage in 2001).

What Stats Did Riddick Produce in the NFL?

Riddick ended up starting in a total of eight games while seeing action in a total of 94 contests.

He had his most season starts with the Falcons in 1992 — which was during a time he was teammates in the secondary with Deion Sanders. Riddick didn’t crack the starting lineup once with the Browns and was mostly a depth piece.
