Lane Kiffin’s first game as LSU’s head coach was always going to attract attention, but his glamorous arrival at Tiger Stadium took the spotlight to another level.
The Tigers welcomed nearly 900 media and celebrity guests for the Clemson matchup in Week 1 of the 2026 college football season, including several stars who joined Kiffin for his walk-up.

The LSU head coach arrived at the stadium alongside former LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne, comedian Theo Von, and model Brooks Nader. The video immediately went viral, triggering backlash from college football fans who mocked Kiffin.

Kiffin has created a spectacle at LSU before the season has even kicked off. Fans have questioned the commotion and attention Kiffin has commanded before even coaching his first game in Baton Rouge.
The celebrity-heavy entrance was hardly the only storyline surrounding LSU and Clemson. Much of the buildup focused on LSU’s decision regarding former NFL players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris.
Both received a preliminary injunction that allowed them to be placed on the Tigers’ 105-man roster. However, LSU chose not to add either player for now, leaving two roster spots open and keeping the situation alive. Kiffin explained the decision during ESPN’s “College GameDay” appearance in Baton Rouge alongside Nick Saban, Pat McAfee, and Kirk Herbstreit.
“That wasn’t easy. As much as I feel for the players, and I believe that you fight for what you believe in, and I believe that these kids have an opportunity to play, just like all the other kids around the country who are winning court cases and being put on rosters,” Kiffin said.
“But at the same time, I’m the head coach of LSU and I had to make a decision that is for the big picture for LSU and the LSU football program, with the uncertainties of what potentially could have come by adding them to the roster.” Kiffin added that the move was in the “best interest of the team and university.”
That decision could still change as the SEC’s lawsuit involving LSU and Kiffin develops. The conference has threatened penalties for schools adding professional players, including a 50% head coach suspension, 50% of the sport’s annual operating budget, and lost SEC voting privileges on certain matters.
LSU enters the Clemson game ranked No. 11 in the country, with Arizona State transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt leading the offense.
