Year in and year out, Josh Allen has been among the most polarizing players in the entire NFL. Given his obvious talent, he’s enjoyed a ton of success with the Buffalo Bills, both in the regular season and the playoffs.
However, with his team not winning a Super Bowl nearly a decade into his career, some have chosen to place the blame on the organization rather than the player. An ESPN analyst was among those folks, but he received some immediate pushback for his opinion.
Josh Allen Hyperbole Lands ESPN Analyst in Trouble
Ahead of the 2026 NFL season, in which Allen has a new head coach, Joe Brady, and a new star wide receiver, DJ Moore, Jordan Rodgers indirectly placed the blame on the Bills for Allen not having a Super Bowl ring, rather than the other way around.
In a viral clip on “Get Up,” he argued that Allen had done enough to win a ring. But his comments did not sit well with legendary defensive tackle Warren Sapp. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers icon immediately called out the college football specialist.
“Facts don’t matter,” Sapp said. “It’s the story they trying to tell. Enough to win and never been. My Lawd!!”

It was obvious that the comments were hard to digest for a former Super Bowl champion like Sapp.
“I think the scrutiny is misguided,” Rodgers said in the segment. “The last six playoff losses, he has 14 touchdowns to one interception. He has a QBR of 88; he’s only taken six sacks in 237 dropbacks. They lost three consecutive times by three points or fewer.”

Instead, he believed the fault lay with the defense for not getting stops at the right time: “To me, Josh Allen has done enough to win a Super Bowl, to get them to a Super Bowl. The defense is the one that has let ’em down.”

Unfortunately, the facts sided with the former Defensive Player of the Year as well. Allen had two interceptions in his loss to the Denver Broncos in the Divisional Round last season, one of which was the final offensive play of the year for the Bills.
He was also sacked three times in that game and fumbled the ball twice, leading to two more turnovers, one of which directly gave the Broncos a field goal before the end of the first half in a game that was decided by 3 points.
While Allen has been stellar at various points in his career, he hasn’t been completely without fault for some of the Bills’ postseason shortcomings either.
According to PFN’s QB Impact Metric, Allen posted an impact score of 80.3 last season, ranking ninth in the league. It remains to be seen whether he can improve those numbers with Brady as his head coach.
