Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke bought a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, adding an MLB team to his impressive pro-sports portfolio.
Kroenke bought the Angels from owner Arte Moreno via the Kroenke Sports and Entertainment holding company, which owns the Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Avalanche (NHL), Colorado Rapids (MLS), Colorado Mammoth (NLL), and Arsenal (EPL).
NFL fans and analysts reacted to the Rams owner’s purchase of the Angels, with the deal set to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to MLB approval.

A Seattle Mariners fan was terrified of the Angels turning into winners under Kroenke’s ownership.
“This is bad news as a Mariners fan. Kroenke builds winning teams. [Expletive],” the fan wrote.
One fan contrasted Kroenke with Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.
“Just dawned on me that Kroenke is the anti-Jimmy Haslam, especially if he turns the Angels around,” the fan opined.

Another fan complained about Kroenke’s growing sports portfolio in American and European sports.

One Angels fan was ecstatic after Kroenke bought the MLB team.
“Stan Kroenke was my dream fit for an Angels owner. I have [expletive] chills down my spine. Angels fans. We [expletive] made it to the endgame,” the Angels fan celebrated.

Analyst Sam Neumann addressed Kroenke’s growing influence in American sports.
“This is great news for Angels fans, but Kroenke owning eight (!) professional sports teams is pretty ridiculous. But I guess if he’s willing to subsidize them and commit to winning, it’s better than the alternative…” Neumann wrote.
One fan was awed by Kroenke’s collection of sports teams.
“That list is nuts,” the fan posted.
Under Moreno’s ownership, the Angels have been on a playoff drought, reaching the postseason just once since 2010. Moreno was criticized for not investing enough resources in the team as the Angels clinched their 11th consecutive losing season.
In five major U.S. sports, teams within the Kroenke sphere of influence have won multiple championships, including two Super Bowl titles with the Rams, two Stanley Cups with the Avalanche, an NBA championship with the Nuggets, and an MLS Cup with the Rapids. Also, Arsenal won the Premier League last season and Arsenal W.F.C. won the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2025.
