Caitlin Clark’s truthers have to go the extra mile to defend her against detractors. She’s currently in the midst of an MVP season, battling heavyweights such as Olivia Miles and A’ja Wilson while jockeying for position on the leaderboard.
However, it isn’t enough for some analysts. ESPN’s David Dennis Jr. made this clear in July when he went at Clark, leading to ex-ESPN sportscaster Linda Cohn to defend her by poking fun at Dennis Jr.
Linda Cohn Defends Caitlin Clark From David Dennis Jr.’s Take
Prior to the 2026 All-Star Game in July, CC was voted as the ‘11th best guard’ in the WNBA by other players in the league.
Dennis Jr. saw no problem in this take, however. He took to ESPN at the time to say, “I don’t think you can make a compelling argument that Caitlin Clark is a top four guard in the WNBA. Nobody can at this point.”
“That is why she was 11th,” Dennis Jr. continued. “She got the 11th-most votes for being in the top four. So there’s really no controversy about that, especially when you add in the fact that she is one of the most popular players in the WNBA.”
“What bothers me is when this is framed as some sort of petty jealousy or insecurity by these women in the WNBA. Because that’s not what I’m seeing is happening with Caitlin Clark.”
He painted this as something that “every young player” goes through.
Cohn took to his social media to scoff at this take, reposting a clip of himself saying it. She sarcastically questioned her fans,

Besides Cohn, other talking heads in and around the WNBA have disagreed with Dennis Jr.’s line of reasoning.
Candace Parker at the time said, “You’ve got some insecurities if you’re sitting down and putting Caitlin Clark as the 11th-best guard. Y’all need to go to a therapist.”

Cohn, for some time now, has also been a staunch supporter of Clark, and recently said, “If I had a vote, I would vote for her because nobody touches the ball more than her. The offense goes through her. Caitlin does so much. I know A’ja Wilson, she’s a machine, the stats are remarkable. It’s not most ‘stats per player’, it’s ‘most valuable player.’”
The vitriolic reaction toward Clark will only continue to gain steam as she further cements her contention in the MVP race after helping the Fever lock in a playoff spot.
While the Indiana superstar doesn’t acknowledge any of the hate all too often, it could be safe to assume that she does feel comforted when people do take her side every now and then.
