The Tennessee Titans are embracing a new beginning after hiring Robert Saleh as the team’s new head coach. With the hope that Cam Ward can be the franchise quarterback they anticipated when drafting him No. 1 overall in 2025, the team is turning their full focus towards him and cutting ties with Will Levis.
Will Levis Is in Search of a New Home After Titans Cut Ties
After three seasons, the franchise finally moved on from Levis, waiving him on Sunday after they weren’t able to find a trade partner for the 27-year-old quarterback.
Drafted in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Levis’ Titans tenure was marked by some below-average production and downright cartoonish mistakes.
After ranking at No. 30 in PFN’s QB Impact Score as a rookie, he fell further to No. 39 among eligible quarterbacks in 2024. Last year, he didn’t play any games for the Titans. But under Saleh, he was back on the field for the Titans during the preseason.
He didn’t do enough to impress the new coaching staff. But news of Levis being waived prompted some strong reactions from the NFL world, even as some were stunned by the path his career had taken.

“Wild. 33rd overall pick in 2023 & couldn’t even fetch a trade after 3 seasons,” one fan wrote. “He had that one 4 TD game in his first start by just chunking the ball downfield, & it was largely decided he’d be the next Josh Allen.
“Didn’t like him as a prospect coming out, but this is a pretty big fall from grace. Has good arm talent, but is just too wild and reckless. Like an MLB playing QB. Maybe he could be developed into a decent backup QB, who knows.”

Some people, though, immediately started predicting where Levis would land next.
As Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated joked, “Packers will sign him and trade him for four firsts at the deadline.”
Eli Berkovits of 247 Sports added, “Gutey (Brian Gutekunst) bout to turn Will Levis into a 2028 3rd round pick,” referencing the fact that Green Bay was able to help Malik Willis turn his career around after he left Tennessee.

One fan, though, predicted that the three-year veteran might get a fresh start with the Philadelphia Eagles: “Will Levis feels like such an Eagle that it hurts.”
Another fan saw him as a potential member of the Chicago Bears, especially if they were moving on from backup quarterback Tyson Bagent.

“If the Bears did trade Tyson [Bagent], I wouldn’t hate bringing in Will as a project QB,” one Bears fan added. “Titans thought they were drafting Josh Allen, but didn’t put a quarter of [the] investment in the young man that the Bills put into Josh. Not saying he becomes Josh, but learning from Ben could make him an asset.”
Some were still in shock over how Levis regressed from his rookie seaso just three years ago to now.

But even as his tenure with the Titans came to a disappointing end, fans didn’t completely dismiss his talent. One fan argued, “He would be the Browns’ best QB.”
It remains to be seen where Levis will land next. There are likely a number of teams that will view him as an intriguing backup option and development project, so expect him to get a fresh start very soon.
