Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward recently took to the podium and addressed his preseason play. However, the way it was discussed has led many fans and onlookers to take shots at the second-year quarterback.
Cam Ward Goes Back and Forth With Reporter Regarding His Preseason Play
During Ward’s press conference, radio host Jared Stillman asked the second-year quarterback how he’d assess his play during the preseason.
Instead of directly answering the question, Ward shot back at Stillman, asking him how he’d assess it, to which Stillman simply responded, “Not well.”
I asked Cam Ward how he would assess his preseason, his answer was to ask me how I would assess it..to which I said “not well.”
He then gave his assessment in which he said they made a huge jump from Week 1 to Week 2. Says it will “be a different story” Week 1 vs the Jets. pic.twitter.com/fqPwgnNrfr

After Stillman said that, Ward mentioned the team’s progression from Week 1 to Week 2, then said it would “be a different story” come Week 1 of the 2026-27 regular season, when the Titans take on the New York Jets.
As clips of this portion of the press conference started making the rounds, fans began associating this with Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
“He’s who people thought Shedeur Sanders was,” one fan said with a laughing and crown emoji.

The clip of the press conference could come off as a bit testy when Ward shot back and asked for Stillman’s assessment, but otherwise, Ward took Stillman’s criticism and expanded his answer.

Additionally, he finished the season with a PFN QB Impact score of 61.6, ranking as the worst quarterback in the league.
NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe also weighed in on this discussion, explaining that reporters have a job to do and adding that he believes Ward hasn’t played well this preseason.
As Ward said, we’ll see come Week 1 when the Jets and Titans square off.
