The Indiana Fever are led by stars Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. Both players have played so well in 2026 that they are among the candidates for this year’s WNBA MVP award.
A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces is looking for an MVP three-peat, with Clark and Mitchell as two of her top competitors. Now, another Fever player has proposed that Clark and Mitchell should take home co-MVP honors.
Fever Teammate Argues Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell Should Be Co-MVPs
In a video posted by reporter Robin Lundberg, Fever guard Ty Harris claimed that her teammates should both be named co-MVPs.

“I think they deserve it, both of them,” Harris said. “I mean, nobody wants to be co-[MVP], but hey, I’mma throw it out there. It’s hard for them, so it would be amazing just to have them [both honored] because they definitely deserve it.”
This is not a crazy idea, as the MVP race is tight this year. The official WNBA site lists Wilson, Clark, and Olivia Miles as the current favorites for the award. Dallas Wings superstar Paige Bueckers is another name that is under consideration as well.
Mitchell ranks second in the WNBA in scoring with 24.8 points per game, just behind Wilson, who is currently leading the league with 26.6 points per game. Clark is right behind her in third with 22.1 points per game. Yet, Clark is also tied for the league lead in assists per game with 8.3 per game.
The reigning MVP Wilson leads the league in scoring and blocks, and is tied for third in rebounding. Overtaking her in this year’s race will be no easy task.
However, the number of legit candidates may mean votes are split more than usual. That does create a possible scenario, albeit an unlikely one, where Clark and Mitchell could indeed be named co-MVPs.
Harris’ comments mostly point to the general consensus that Clark and Mitchell are both stars who deserve proper recognition for their role in the Fever’s success. It also shows that Harris is trying to support both of her teammates without saying anything divisive.
The MVP debate will rage on for quite some time as the WNBA is set to go on a weeks-long break for the upcoming FIBA Women’s World Cup. The Fever play Friday night and then don’t have another game until September 18.
This gives fans and media members alike plenty of time to dissect the MVP race as the league is on hiatus. Perhaps some time off will lead some voters to come around on Harris’ view on two candidates splitting co-MVP honors this year.
However, the general consensus remains that Wilson is once again the favorite to take home the MVP trophy.
