Fresh off winning her second Cincinnati Open title with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Jessica Pegula in the first all-American final in 56 years, Coco Gauff enters the US Open as a major title contender. The last time she won Cincinnati in 2023, she went on to win her first Grand Slam title at the US Open. However, Gauff’s growing popularity has also brought some off-court drama, with her mother recently posting about the ticket requests she’s receiving.
Coco Gauff’s Mom Candi Has a Very Clear Message for Family and Friends Asking for US Open Tickets
With Pegula warning the tour that “a dangerous, confident Coco is going to New York,” fans are looking forward to the 22-year-old winning her second title in New York. However, this year’s US Open also comes with a major ticketing problem.
After the USTA announced a record $108 million player compensation package, fans and experts have criticized the “scandalous” ticket prices and the sold-out Fan Week. With $65 grounds passes being resold for more than $300 and demand continuing to rise, players’ limited complimentary guest tickets have understandably become highly sought after.
To avoid extra distractions before another important title run, Coco’s mother, Candi Gauff, took matters into her own hands and posted a direct message to friends and extended family asking for free tickets.
“Dear Family and friends, I apologize in advance for this blunt, but necessary statement,” Candi wrote in her Instagram post. “I know you are very excited about Coco playing in the US Open. Me too!!! Coco’s guest ticket request have already been accounted for. Unfortunately, I will not be able to hook you up with a ticket.”
She also asked those looking for tickets to make their own arrangements. “Please make arrangements to purchase a ticket,” she added. “Side note, never ask for more than 2 tickets. Coco is grown now and she has her own friends that she is honoring tickets for the match. Thank you for your continued support.”

Candi’s post comes as ticket prices for this year’s US Open have soared, with resale prices reaching record levels. For example, tickets for Tuesday night’s Roger Federer exhibition rose from a $100 face value to more than $1,000 on resale sites.

As fans continued to complain about being priced out, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani partnered with the USTA to offer 1,000 tickets for $100 to local residents, though some questioned whether the limited number would make much of a difference.
Thankfully, for Gauff, her mother is taking care of the ticket chaos, leaving her free to focus on repeating her 2023 run under the lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium. The main draw begins on August 30, where Gauff is seeded fourth.
