Bhayshul Tuten generated fantasy football hype this time last season and while that idea was directionally right, it was Travis Etienne who had the big season. The steam isn’t quite the same this time around, but the door is wide open for him to deliver on the promise that many pushed in his direction 12 months ago … and maybe more.
Should I Draft Bhayshul Tuten in Fantasy Football?
Tuten is far from a steady hand in the passing game, but considering that just six of Chris Rodriguez’s 204 career touches have come that way, he passes for a versatile weapon. This Jacksonville target hierarchy is TBD and that might be the case every week this season, but we can agree that the development last season was real and that this is likely to be a top-10 unit.
That means scoring chances and that’s where Tuten (five scores on eight attempts inside of the 10-yard line) can give us base production. This is being treated like a committee and while they did pay Rodriguez real money, all signs seem to point in the direction of this being Tuten’s gig to lose.

He’s not flashy and the role isn’t locked in, two things that are very much keeping his price tag in check. But given the limitations of his competition and the regularity I expect this team to extend drive, he profiles as someone you can start with confidence from the jump rather than a wait-and-see RB3.
Jacksonville spent fourth round draft capital on him after he posted a third straight season with double digit rushing scores (one at North Carolina A&T and two at Virginia Tech). The fact that they gave him valuable touches last season while Etienne posting a near 1,400-yard 13-TD season is notable and the leg I’ll stand on as I get reasonably priced exposure to this explosive unit.
