In the highly touted debate over transgender inclusivity in the WNBA, Enes Kanter is leaving no stone unturned to make his stance clear.
After declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft as a protest and praising Sophie Cunningham for speaking out on trans athletes participating in women’s sports, Kanter continued his antics during the Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky game on Sunday.
Kanter’s actions drew criticism from former NFL player Robert Griffin III, who felt that the former Boston Celtics center’s nuances were harming the very identity he was trying to shape.

Kanter attended the Fever-Sky game on Sunday with a clear purpose. For the game, the former NBA player donned a black t-shirt with “WOMAN. noun. adult human female” written on it, emphasizing his idea of safeguarding female athletes.
However, it was during the third quarter of the game that Kanter’s presence was met with a sharp reception. With just over a minute left, he was spotted in a heated back-and-forth with Sky guard Natasha Cloud.
It was after this altercation that the former Celtics center was ejected from the game, putting the social media community on notice. Griffin was pinpoint in his reaction, remarking that Kanter crossed the line with his actions during the game.
“Enes Kanter is causing more harm and damage to the women he claims he is trying to protect,” he stated in an X post. “THIS is lame.”

Griffin didn’t just stop there, as the former Baltimore Ravens QB also specifically highlighted Kanter’s episode with Cloud.
“Enes stepping up and approaching the court to challenge a WNBA player while court side at a game is not standing up for women,” Griffin added in another post. “It’s lame no matter what side of the issue you are on.”
Griffin’s assessment isn’t coming in isolation, as Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma echoed the sentiment: “Look at the drama queen, no, not Natasha,” he wrote. “Grown man stepping over the baseline at a woman 🤡.”
Kanter’s ideology has remained constant in this debate over transgender inclusivity in the WNBA. He has largely insisted on safeguarding the female athletes.
Moreover, the altercation during an important WNBA game created unrest and diverted attention from the impressive basketball product, as the Fever cruised to a 113-90 win thanks to Caitlin Clark’s 37-point explosion.
Nevertheless, the debate around the WNBA’s transgender inclusivity policies is far from over, and analysts and former pros involved will have plenty to say until a resolution is reached.
