The Las Vegas Raiders spent the summer imagining what a healthier, improved offense could look like around Ashton Jeanty. Sunday’s practice suddenly gave them a much less pleasant possibility to consider.
According to ESPN’s Ryan McFadden, Jeanty landed awkwardly while diving for a catch and was helped off the field by the trainers. No diagnosis had been announced immediately afterward, but the star running back couldn’t put any pressure on his right leg.
NFL Fans Fear the Worst After Ashton Jeanty’s Injury
The sight was enough to send NFL fans into immediate concern.
One Raiders fan wrote, “Raiders can’t ever have anything nice… hopefully Jeanty is okay.”

Raider Dhillon was considerably more concise: “This Jeanty injury better be minor,” he wrote in his reaction.
Shaan echoed the sentiment. “I Hate Injuries Man,” he wrote in a post. “Hopefully Jeanty is Fine.”

Another fan wrote, “Cut it out, the season ain’t even started yet, and Jeanty is hurt.”
One reaction to the injury warned that losing Jeanty for meaningful time “could be very devastating,” which captured why the scene immediately generated so much concern.

There are some rumors that Jeanty might have torn his ACL, but until Las Vegas provides medical information, the severity remains unknown.

Ashton Jeanty Remains Centerpiece of Raiders Offense
Jeanty is entering his second NFL season after producing 975 rushing yards, 346 receiving yards, and 10 total touchdowns as a rookie. The Raiders have continued to treat him as their lead back throughout training camp.
His rookie season was less efficient than expected behind a struggling offensive line. Jeanty finished 2025 with a 66.1 PFN RB Impact score, ranking 54th among NFL running backs.

Las Vegas spent the offseason strengthening the infrastructure around him, including adding Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum. Rookie Mike Washington Jr. has also emerged as the primary backup and has impressed head coach Klint Kubiak throughout camp.
Jeanty had 3 carries for 16 yards in the Raiders’ preseason opener against Arizona before sitting out Thursday’s win over Houston with several other prominent starters.
The scene looked concerning enough to produce an immediate wave of panic, but concern is not a diagnosis. Raiders fans will now wait for the update that matters considerably more than anything anyone saw walking off the practice field.
