‘Immaculate Vibes,’ ‘Shut Up Please’ — NFL Fans Have Mixed Reactions to Brenda Song Commentating Rams-Saints in Preseason

A unique guest on commentary in Brenda Song during the Los Angeles Rams vs. New Orleans Saints preseason game left fans divided.

The NFL typically uses a ton of various personalities for broadcasting duties during the preseason. Rather than the typical commentary team, fans get a unique look at the action as various personalities get a chance to call the game.

This year, though, saw a new name enter the fray when actress Brenda Song joined the commentary booth for the game between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints.

Brenda Song Brings Unique Style to Rams vs. Saints

Living in Los Angeles, Song has been in the acting business for over three decades now. A huge sports fan, she can regularly be seen in attendance at Los Angeles Lakers games. But her loyalty to the city also extends to the Rams.

As a result, the NFL came up with a special opportunity, inviting her to the commentary booth for their preseason game. Her joy for the sport and love for the Rams were palpable, as it became evident multiple times throughout the game.

Some of the fans tuning in for the game were left impressed by her work, despite it being her first time in such a unique role. As one fan exclaimed, “Alex Cook great read for the pick 6. Brenda Song has been phenomenal in the booth.”

For others, though, her excitement for her favorite team was more than enough to make her a joy to listen to, as one fan wrote, “Ok, the Brenda Song girl in the booth really is a Rams fan, hyper yet fun to listen to.”

However, some sections of the fan base weren’t thrilled by her work in the commentary booth. One fan directly called her out, stating, “Brenda Song is ruining the game. Shut up, please.”

Some of the criticism against her was even harsher as one fan compared her voice to a chalkboard on nails, claiming, “Brenda Song announcing may as well, the chalkboard and nails. Making the game unwatchable.”

Others believed that the experiment needed to end quickly. Moreover, they requested, “She is terrible. This should be one and done, and never try this stupid experiment again. Brenda Song is making this unwatchable.”

Another fan added, “The commentators on CBS are SOOO boring! Idc about naming a play after Brenda Song. SHUT UP. We wanna watch the game.”

It remains to be seen which side the NFL falls on. If they view her appearance as a success, then other celebrities hopping into the commentary booth could become a regular occurrence, especially during preseason.

But if a large portion of the fan base is against the idea, the league might opt to pause the practice, at least for the time being.
