‘New Meme Unlocked,’ ‘This Rivalry Never Dying’ — WNBA World Cracks Up as Caitlin Clark Laughs at Angel Reese for Missing Game-Winning Layup

Caitlin Clark gets caught laughing at Angel Reese for missing the game-winning layup and the WNBA world erupts with reactions.

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have established themselves as a premier rivalry in the WNBA. Their fierce battles in college are what led fans to become interested in the W on a global scale.

Tonight’s Fever-Dream matchup was no different, especially with Clark seemingly poking fun at Angel for a mishap late in the game.

The Clark-Reese clash went down to the wire. After Kelsey Mitchell drained a jumper with a little over a minute remaining to tie the game at 81 apiece, no player scored again.

Reese had a chance to win the game as with three seconds left, she caught the ball underneath the hoop. She went up to score but missed, and Naz Hillmon got the rebound, which led to her missing as well.

The game remained tied at 81-81 and went into overtime.

Angel was clearly distraught after missing a ‘gimme’ bucket a few feet away from the hoop. CC, however, had a blast watching her rival and the opposing team miss out on the win as she laughed at the Angel and Hillmon’s missed shot attempts.

“New meme unlocked,” wrote one user on X who clipped the Dream star’s reaction to her missed bucket.

Another user praised Clark for the way she poked fun at her rivals, writing, “CC is such a troll.”

One WNBA observer simply described what happened and said, “Caitlin Clark makes fun at Angel Reese after she does her speciality missing a lay-up that would’ve won them the game,” before spamming a few emojis.

“They bout to kill my goat for this in a few hours, but it was worth the laugh,” said another user.

“This rivalry never dying,” another handle claimed.

The game ended with the Fever edging out the Dream 95-91 in OT. Clark had a team-high 26 points on 9-20 shooting from the field while getting some much-needed help from Aliyah Boston, who dropped 18 points.

Reese had 15 points and 14 rebounds on the night, playing second fiddle offensively to Allisha Gray, who had 32 points on 4-7 shooting from beyond the arc.

While it may seem as though Clark and Reese have a certain level of beef, the two also share a base level of respect for one another.

“I love her game, the way she rebounds the ball, scores the ball is absolutely incredible. I’m a big fan of her,” said CC about Reese in 2023.

The Dream star returned the favor by calling her “super competitive” and hoping “one day” they could be teammates.
