Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks, but with no Super Bowl ring in sight, detractors continue to cast doubt on his legacy.
One anonymous NFL GM went as far as to make a bleak prediction about the Bills star’s future in Buffalo.
Josh Allen Receives Harsh Super Bowl Prediction
The Bills selected Allen with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Wyoming. Since entering the league, he has developed into one of football’s premier quarterbacks and one of the most dangerous dual-threat players in NFL history. Last season, Allen ranked No. 9 in PFN’s quarterback impact rankings with an 80.3 grade.
Though Allen has repeatedly given Buffalo fans hope that he can finally deliver the franchise a long-awaited championship, that dream has yet to manifest into reality.
The biggest void on his résumé remains the absence of a Super Bowl appearance or championship ring. His playoff career has instead been defined by heartbreaking exits, most notably four postseason defeats at the hands of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Buffalo’s continued inability to win a Super Bowl has become a frustrating storyline for the franchise and its fan base. One anonymous NFL general manager added to those concerns by questioning whether the Bills can realistically win a championship with their current roster construction, even with Allen playing at an elite level.

“Josh is a 1 because he is the reason they remain competitive,” the GM said in an interview with The Athletic. “He’s so physically talented. But I’m ready to say he’s never gonna win a Super Bowl because their team’s getting worse around him, and I think his style of football is going to start breaking him down physically.”
Buffalo’s roster remains good enough to consistently reach the postseason and compete for playoff spots. However, compared to other Super Bowl contenders, the Bills lack the elite, game-changing blue-chip talent capable of consistently taking over big games.
As a result, Allen is forced to carry an enormous workload nearly every week to compensate for the shortage of explosive playmakers around him.
Since parting ways with Stefon Diggs, Buffalo has struggled to replace its true No. 1 receiving threat. Khalil Shakir led the team’s wide receivers in yards per route run last season, but that figure ranked only 30th among NFL receivers.
Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox provide a reliable tight end duo. However, neither has consistently dominated games the way stars such as Travis Kelce or George Kittle have throughout their careers.
Buffalo’s roster requires Allen to be extraordinary simply to compete with the NFL’s elite teams rather than consistently surpass them. Unless the Bills surround their franchise quarterback with a legitimate top-10 perimeter receiver and ancillary weapons, the roster will continue to stand in the way of his pursuit of a Super Bowl title.
