The NFL community on X was devastated by Atlanta Falcons edge rusher Jalon Walker's potential ACL tear during training camp on Tuesday.

Talented edge rusher Jalon Walker is feared to have torn his ACL during the Atlanta Falcons’ training camp session on Tuesday. The former Georgia Bulldogs standout, who was carted off the field during an 11-on-11 play, will undergo an MRI to diagnose the injury, which could prematurely end his 2026 season.

NFL Community Dismayed by Jalon Walker’s Injury

Falcons players took a knee as Walker was being carted off, and coach Kevin Stefanski called a halt to the practice session prematurely after the devastating injury.

Walker’s potential ACL tear saddened the NFL community on X:

Reporter Zach Klein was dismayed by the linebacker’s unfortunate injury and wrote, “Just brutal.”

Sports doctor Jesse Morse broke down how an ACL injury like Walker’s could have happened: “A reminder that 75% of ACL tears are non-contact. Meaning that ACL was slowly starting to loosen and partially tear. The event that caused the tear was just the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back.’ Just like an Achilles, it’s important to be more proactive than reactive with this career-altering injuries,”

CBS Sports’ JP Acosta pointed out the cruel nature of football by saying, “Football actually sucks.”

‘Tre’Shon’ bemoaned Walker’s injury setback after a promising rookie season for the Falcons. He said, “Walker was the best edge setter on the team and the pass rush ability came on strong at the halfway point of the season. Massive setback for a player that was developing into a cornerstone for the defense.”

Sosa Kremenjas was horrified by the mounting injury toll in the NFC South after Walker went down. He wrote, “Wtf is going on in the NFC South right now? Completely imploding before the season even starts.”

Another user on X also counted the NFC South injuries after New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee also tore his ACL last week.

“Nightmare training camp for the NFC South,” the account wrote.

Apart from Bresee and Walker, Carolina Panthers’ Nic Scourton and Chris Brazzell II also suffered season-ending injuries during the training camp.

Walker had an illustrious college football career with the Georgia Bulldogs, winning a national championship in 2022 and the prestigious Butkus Award given to the best linebacker in the country.

After he was selected No. 15 overall by the Falcons in the 2025 NFL Draft, Walker quickly became a key cog in the team. He tallied 36 total tackles (24 solo), 5.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 pass defended, and 1 fumble recovery last season. He earned a PFN Edge Rusher Impact score of 74.2, which ranked him at No. 57 in the NFL.
