There’s no doubt that Aaron Rodgers has worked his way to a Hall of Fame career. Many would think that an NFL player with a Super Bowl ring, four MVP trophies, and four First-Team All-Pro selections wouldn’t have many regrets in life.
Though Rodgers, who’s been oft-criticized across 21 NFL seasons, has admittedly had some issues staying in touch with his family.
Aaron Rodgers Credits Wife For Reconnecting With Family
Yet, despite his past troubles, Rodgers has worked on fostering that connection in recent years, and he says his wife has been a huge help. Rodgers revealed as much in a sit-down interview with NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt at Steelers training camp on Saturday, part of the league’s “Back Together Weekend.”
“Talked to Aaron Rodgers about reuniting with his family and the role his wife played in it,” Brandt wrote in a social media post. Brandt admitted to Rodgers that he was “genuinely moved” by the Pittsburgh Steelers QB’s recent post showing him embracing his family, including his dad.
“There’s been a lot of conversation about it outside of my own conversations for so many years,” Rodgers admitted. “You know, a big part of it was getting married. Having those conversations with my wife, it allowed me to kind of open up to the possibility of coming together. It’s been a couple-year process now. The conversations with them. You know, I’ve been very closed off about that part of my life, and I want to keep it that way.”
Rodgers noted that one of the reasons he reconnected (aside from wanting to rekindle his relationship with his family) was because “there’s been a narrative that’s gone on for too long.” Yet, he notes that it’s been “really beautiful” to reunite with his family.

“But there’s been a narrative that’s gone on for too long, that I kind of wanted to shut down,” Rodgers added. “It’s been really beautiful to reconnect with them. All of them. I got to spend a long weekend recently, those pictures are from Nashville. My parents, my brother and his sweet wife, and their incredible two kids. I got to be an uncle. It’s really special.”
Rodgers seems at peace with his life at the moment, noting that he’s “happy to be reunited.” But again, he gave a lot of credit to his wife for helping him realize what was important in life.
“A lot of my life has been full circle, I think, the last year, and that was part of it,” Rodgers confessed.
“I knew it was part of it, and I’m happy to be reunited, and that part of my life is a really beautiful addition. I got to give my wife a lot of credit for, not that she was pushing me, cuz she never was, but just the way she loves and supports me. But having her by my side during this process has been really special. I missed those relationships. There was reasons for it that don’t need to be talked about, but I’m thankful that that’s come all the way back around.”

The brother pictured in Nashville was Luke, Rodgers’ older brother. Notably absent from the Instagram post was Jordan, the youngest of the three, and himself a quarterback, who starred at Vanderbilt before bouncing between NFL practice squads without ever appearing in a regular-season game. It was Jordan’s comments on “The Bachelorette” in 2016 that first made the family rift public.
Rodgers has never really revealed what led to him being estranged from his family. We may never find out. All that matters in his mind now is that a relationship he’d lost is back.

Now that he’s gotten his house in order, could Rodgers be in for a big send-off? The 42-year-old has said there’s “zero debate” that this 22nd season will be his last, and he’s still chasing a second Super Bowl ring. He’ll do it working with his former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy again. Both are certainly motivated to show they’ve still got it.
