Jacksonville Jaguars star Trevor Lawrence bounced back from a disappointing 2024 season to establish himself as one of the league’s best quarterbacks last year. Lawrence was ranked No. 62 on the NFL Top 100 Players list and has been widely tabbed by fans and analysts to have a stellar season in 2026.
Liam Coen Is Comfortable With Trevor Lawrence Being Underestimated
During Thursday’s segment of “The Drill,” Jaguars coach Liam Coen spoke about his contentment with the Jaguars being underestimated, highlighting the media’s obsession with other teams’ players over his players, including the resurgent Lawrence.
“You know what I said to the staff the other day was, I go, ‘Guys, this is the best part of coaching the Jacksonville Jaguars, you don’t have to make up telling your players stuff. You don’t have to make up the fire. It’s given to us every day. It’s like a gift from the heavens,'” Coen said. “I just go, pull out my phone, and look at the NFL Network website, and just pop up here, and I’m curious if I see any photos or anything about the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“I think I’ll just scroll on through. I think I’ll see 40 pictures of Caleb Williams, and I won’t see a single thing about any of our players on here. It’s just beautiful. Because it’s like, ‘Yeah, guys, this is great. Thanks. I’m just gonna tell all these guys how much y’all think they suck and we’ll just keep going.'”
Lawrence had an injury-hit 2024 season during which his production suffered as the Jaguars slumped to a 4-13 record. After the woeful season, coach Doug Pederson was fired, and Coen was hired in his place.

In his first season under Coen, Lawrence’s production shot through the roof, tallying 4,007 passing yards on 60.9% completion, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, while adding 359 rushing yards and 9 scores in the regular season, earning a PFN QB Impact score of 77.5, ranking him at No. 14 in the NFL.
On July 21, CBS Sports reporter Garrett Podell laid out a stunning statistic about Lawrence’s 2025 season and called the Jaguars quarterback “underrated.”
“He (Lawrence) led the entire NFL in total touchdowns with 24 across the last eight games of the regular season, a span in which Jacksonville went a perfect 8-0 to finish 13-4 and win the AFC South,” Podell wrote.
Lawrence led the Jaguars to the Wild Card Round last season, where they suffered an agonizing 27-24 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Under offensive coordinator Grant Udinski, the Jaguars’ offense was one of the league’s best, earning a PFN Offense Impact score of 78.7, the tenth-best in the NFL.
