Spain’s 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final drew many sportspeople and celebrities to MetLife Stadium. Among the passionate supporters celebrating La Roja’s second world title was Carlos Alcaraz. The Spaniard shared a special crossover moment on Instagram, posing alongside Spain’s Lamine Yamal with the iconic golden World Cup trophy. The post drew reactions from many of his peers, including Coco Gauff.

An hour ago, Alcaraz shared a post of himself at the final, including a photo with 19-year-old Spanish forward Yamal.
In the pic, Yamal, still sporting his No. 19 Spain jersey and celebration sunglasses, and the seven-time Grand Slam champion are all smiles as they jointly hold the iconic FIFA World Cup trophy. Alcaraz also posed with Pau Cubarsi, who won the FIFA World Cup Young Player Award.

In the comments, Gauff kept her message short and sweet with a “vamos,” meaning “come on” in Spanish. The American had also taken to her own Instagram story, posting a picture to show she was backing Spain in the final.
Eva Lys showed her support for the newly crowned champions by dropping a trio of Spanish flags: “🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸”.
Former pro and analyst Sloane Stephens added to the love, commenting with a Spanish flag and a heart: “🇪🇸 ❤️”.
Currently recovering from a right wrist injury that has sidelined him for months, Alcaraz took a break from his rehabilitation to present the Louis Vuitton trophy trunk containing the World Cup Winner’s Trophy before kickoff. Later, he celebrated on the pitch with the team.
Alcaraz wasn’t the only tennis star taking in the action at MetLife Stadium. Novak Djokovic also attended the event, although he supported Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
Félix Auger-Aliassime also posted about his experience at the blockbuster final. The Canadian attended the match alongside fellow Adidas-sponsored athletes, including the Argentine Francisco Cerúndolo and Rafael Jódar. Cerúndolo watched his nation fall just short, but Jódar celebrated alongside Alcaraz and the rest of the Spanish fans.

As for his highly anticipated return to the court, the 23-year-old is targeting the Cincinnati Open in mid-August. After being sidelined for four months due to a right wrist injury sustained at the Barcelona Open in April, he unfortunately had to withdraw from both the French Open and Wimbledon.
Now, Alcaraz and his team are taking every precaution, and he will skip the upcoming Canadian Open in Montreal, keeping his sights set on regaining form in Cincinnati just ahead of the US Open.
