The women’s singles tournament at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships featured several thrilling matches, and there were upsets aplenty as several top seeds were sent packing early on. The Grand Slam also marked the return of Serena Williams, who bowed out in the first round.
Defending champion Iga Świątek was stunned by Alexandra Eala in the third round, while Naomi Osaka sent World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka packing.
In the end, Muchová and Nosková were the last women standing, having fought their way through the field to reach the final. They are set to receive a large chunk of the tournament’s overall prize purse of £64,200,000 (US$86 million).
For her triumph in the women’s singles event at the Wimbledon Championships, Nosková will receive £3,600,000 (US$4.8 million). As the runner-up, Muchová will get £1,800,000 (US$2.4 million) in prize money.
Coco Gauff and Marta Kostyuk will both receive £900,000 (US$1.2 million) for making the semifinals at the All England Club. Osaka, Jessica Pegula, Jasmine Paolini, and Elise Mertens will all receive £480,000 (US$643,000) for their quarterfinal runs at Wimbledon.
In addition to the prize money, Nosková will also receive 2000 ranking points for winning the women’s singles title at the Wimbledon Championships. Muchová will get 1300 points when the WTA Rankings are next updated on Monday.
Regarded as one of the most exciting young players on the WTA Tour, Nosková lived up to the billing at Wimbledon and defeated four seeded players en route to the final.
The 21-year-old started her campaign with a straightforward win over Ella Seidel, before overcoming Camila Osorio in three sets. Facing the in-form Sorana Cîrstea in the third round, Nosková dug deep and came away with a hard-fought win. She then saw off former Grand Slam champion Madison Keys to qualify for the quarterfinals.
In the last eight, Nosková defeated Mertens to reach her first Grand Slam semifinal. Nosková then defeated Kostyuk in straight sets to make the final, before showing great composure on the biggest stage in tennis and seeing off Muchová for her first Major title.
