Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford earned the first MVP award of his illustrious career last season after leading the league in passing yards and touchdowns. The quarterback’s family, led by his wife, Kelly Stafford, has been a mainstay at his games over the years.
Matthew Stafford’s Wife Details the Difficulties of Dating Rams Quarterback
During last week’s segment of the “Cutting Edge” podcast, the quarterback’s wife detailed how she lost herself after dating and marrying him and how she found herself again.
“Your kind of image is known as you know I was Matthew Stafford’s girlfriend. And then I was Matthew Stafford’s fiancée, Matthew Stafford’s wife, and you tend to lose who you are, or I did,” Kelly said. “And so for me, I would remind myself to just stay true to the values I have. [A] reminder that I can chase after my own goals too; it doesn’t just have to be about his.
“Because again, that was I didn’t really come to it until I moved to LA, so 12 years into it. And looking back at Detroit, I would say I was happy because I loved him, but I was also unhappy because I didn’t really know where I fit in or knew who I was. And the move to LA really helped me kind of… realize, you know, I can be what I want to be, too. But I do think you lose yourself in what everyone else expects you to be.”

Kelly and Matthew met before the quarterback starred for the Georgia Bulldogs between 2006 and 2008 and was selected first overall in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. After dating for seven years, the couple got married in 2015 and has four children together.
The couple became mainstays in Detroit as Matthew starred for the Lions, establishing himself as one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the league. He was finally traded to the Rams in 2021
After moving to L.A. from Detroit, Kelly started a weekly podcast titled ‘The Morning After with Kelly Stafford.’ The show, which ran until 2025, was co-hosted by Hank Winchester before wrapping up. Last year, Kelly started a sports and lifestyle series titled the ‘TIMEOUT’ podcast.

After being traded to the Rams, Stafford helped the franchise win Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals in his first season.
