The last time NFL fans saw Brandon Aiyuk competing on a football field was October 20, 2024, a Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs that ended when he tore his ACL and MCL. It has been over 610 days since Brandon Aiyuk last played in an NFL game. By the time the 2026 season kicks off, that number will exceed 690 days.
Of course, Aiyuk did suffer a very serious season-ending injury, one that saw him tear his ACL and MCL. Yet Aiyuk didn’t do himself any favors by failing to attend his rehab sessions with the San Francisco 49ers.
Brandon Aiyuk Hasn’t Been Getting Advised by an Agent
Now, as the former second-team All-Pro enters the second season of a four-year, $120 million contract, the 49ers no longer believe he’s worth the price of admission. However, considering he’s still just 28 and led a Super Bowl team to a 1,342-yard season in 2023, the 49ers also aren’t willing to just release him and let him join another contender.
Meanwhile, that seems to be exactly what Aiyuk has been angling for. First, it started privately behind the scenes. Lately, he has been airing his grievances publicly via Instagram, and it hasn’t exactly made him look good.
As Aiyuk continues to share cryptic posts on social media, some can’t help but wonder whether he’s been getting any professional advice along the way. Heck, he’s even recently been compared to the controversial Antonio Brown, and it’s not because they share similarities in football acumen.
We now have an answer, and it’s the expected one. According to Aiyuk, he hasn’t had an agent advising him for some time now.

“I do not have an agent,” Aiyuk said. “I terminated my SRA with my previous agent through the NFL PA last year in November.”
Not having an agent also isn’t helping Aiyuk get to a new team, as he wants. An agent could be working tirelessly behind the scenes to try to find a trade partner for the 49ers. Or, at the very least, do some damage control, advising Aiyuk to delete these videos as soon as they’re posted, or even better, not to record them at all.
As a result, Aiyuk remains in the same situation, disgruntled and hoping for a change in atmosphere. But it’s becoming clear that posting videos online isn’t the answer, unless he’s trying to make other teams lose interest or question his fit in the locker room.

The Washington Commanders remain the most likely landing spot for Aiyuk, but unless he is released by the 49ers, the NFC East franchise will have to wait.
Aiyuk, who, according to PFSN’s WR Impact Metric, was the fourth-highest-rated receiver in the league in 2023 with an impact score of 92.7, will be a great addition for the Commanders to help Jayden Daniels, but given how things are going, it’s hard to envision the 49ers releasing him any time soon.
