After a mixed season in Las Vegas, quarterback Geno Smith was traded to the New York Jets, hoping to resuscitate his flagging NFL career. The veteran quarterback’s return to New York has been hailed as a homecoming, as the franchise selected him No. 39 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Geno Smith Caught Up in Assault Allegation
Off the field, on Sunday, a woman with the username ‘@EverythingKrisxo’ posted a clip of an altercation between herself and Smith on Instagram. She alleged that the Jets quarterback had physically assaulted her and broken her computer. She captioned the clip:
“Today is the DAY! GENO SMITH beat my (expletive) cause he HATES taking care of his special needs kid and can’t be left alone with him because he’d rather watch (expletive) online and play Call of Duty.”
A follow-up clip showed Smith speaking with three police officers and was captioned: “Charges pressed. Been supportive of this demon and his narcissistic personality disorder ALL MY DAMN LIFE!!!”
On Monday, the mother of Smith’s child, who goes by the username ‘eethr,’ hit back at claims about his ability to care for his son. She posted pictures on Instagram of the quarterback holding his son as an infant and as a toddler.

“Geno is and always has been more than capable of taking care of his son, let’s kill that narrative. Don’t get on the internet bringing my son into your web of dysfunction,” she wrote.
According to Fox Sports’ Andy Slater, the case against Smith is no longer open. “New York Jets QB Geno Smith was being investigated for alleged battery on Sunday, but I am told the case is no longer open,” Slater wrote on X. “Cops went to Smith’s house after being called, checked everything out, and left with no one being taken into custody.”
Now that this matter is behind him, Smith can focus on football and get his career back on track with the Jets.

While speaking to reporters last week, new Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich lavished praise on Smith’s talent and preparation during the team’s OTAs and minicamp.
“It’s hard for me right now to not be overly, what’s the word, effusive with praise, but I am just so impressed with Geno,” Reich said. “I know we haven’t played any games yet, we’ve got a long way to go, we’ve got a lot to prove.”
“But man, he is on point,” Reich added. “His preparation is top-notch, his football mind is elite, the way he’s communicating in the huddle and at the line of scrimmage and the way he communicates in the quarterback’s room, I’ve been around a lot of really smart and good quarterbacks. I mean… all I’m going to say is, we’re in good shape.”
In an error-strewn season in Las Vegas, Smith tallied 3,025 passing yards on 67.4% completion, resulting in 19 touchdowns and 17 interceptions for the Raiders. He earned a PFSN QB Impact score of 68.4, good for No. 34 in the league.
