Caitlin Clark has established herself as one of the WNBA’s leading players, with her elite performances playing a major role in the league’s surge in popularity.
Building on Clark’s impact, rookie guard Raven Johnson has provided insight into what the Indiana Fever superstar is really like outside of basketball.
Raven Johnson Opens Up on What Caitlin Clark Is Like in the Indiana Fever Locker Room
While WNBA fans are used to seeing Clark dominate games for the Fever, Johnson recently spoke about what it’s like to share the locker room with the 24-year-old. The South Carolina alum hailed Clark for being a “ball of energy” and revealed that she is always making jokes off the court.
“She’s so funny. I think people need to get to know her outside of basketball. She’s literally like me. We’re like a ball of energy. She’s always having fun, she’s always smiling, always making jokes,” Johnson said during a conversation with Fever Insiders Chloe Peterson and Brian Haenchen on IndyStar TV.
On the court, Clark remains one of the most influential and prominent stars in women’s sports and is enjoying another prolific year with the Fever. The 2024 Rookie of the Year is averaging 20.4 points, 8.3 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game on 40.2% shooting.
As she looks to lead the Fever to the playoffs, Clark has also announced her first signature sneaker with Nike. The 6-foot-0 guard’s sneaker was launched on Wednesday afternoon after months of anticipation, with the Nike Caitlin 1s set to become available in October.
Clark had shared her excitement and dropped hints about the launch of her signature shoe in the weeks leading up to the release.
“This is like your debut album, you want it to be killer… A lot of it speaks to different parts of my life and different parts of my journey,” Clark said to ESPN.
Meanwhile, Johnson is also making her mark during her rookie year in the WNBA. Coming off the bench, she is averaging 4.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game on 43.4% shooting for the Fever.
With both players contributing, the Fever have found their form in recent games and are currently on a four-game winning streak. Clark and co. will hope to keep that run going on Thursday when they take on Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse (tip-off at 7:30 p.m. ET).
