The Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini saga continues to dominate NFL headlines, as two separate developments keep the story at the center of the sports world’s attention.
Earlier on Monday, TMZ published a new photo of Vrabel and Russini together at a 2022 NFL Honors afterparty in Los Angeles. It added another data point to a timeline of images that now stretches back to at least 2020. Hours later, a different set of photos shifted the spotlight entirely.
Dianna Russini and Her Husband Seen Together for First Time Since Scandal
Page Six obtained exclusive images of Russini kissing her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, outside their home in New Jersey. It marked the first time the couple had been photographed together since the scandal broke on April 7.
The photos, which were from Mother’s Day, show Russini and Goldschmidt embracing and kissing near their car while their two young sons, Michael and Joey, were nearby.
What sparked the strongest reaction on social media wasn’t the photos themselves, but Goldschmidt’s demeanor. He appeared relaxed and unbothered in the images, which, given the whole scandal, surprised many on social media and prompted questions about the nature of the couple’s arrangement.

“So is this whole thing a humiliation kink or what?” Barstool’s Eric Nathan wrote on X. “Maybe they should come out and say it’s just what they’re into. There’s no other possibility.”
“Staging car crashes and kissing photos Russini: PR – 2, Vrabel PR – 0,” wrote NYJ Matt, referencing the earlier false report about Russini rescuing a man and his dog after a car crash.

“Coverage of this is way past the point of saying nothing about Diana Russini and everything about the people consuming it,” Kristi Yamaguccimane said on X, referring to how the entire saga has dragged out too much.

Barstool’s Dave Portnoy, who is a New England Patriots fan, also reacted to Russini’s photos with her husband and shared a GIF that said, “Love always wins.”

The contrast between where Russini and Vrabel stand professionally couldn’t be more different. Russini resigned from The Athletic in April, before the outlet’s internal investigation into her relationship with Vrabel and whether she had been dishonest with her editors could conclude.
She has not spoken publicly since her departure, though radio host Jon “Stugotz” Weiner, who spoke with her privately, has indicated she intends to address the situation on her own timeline.
Her career, built over a decade at ESPN and then The Athletic as one of the NFL’s most connected reporters, faces an uncertain path forward. The continuous flow of new photos from different years has complicated attempts to schedule any public rehabilitation. Since April 7, each week has brought new images, videos, or reports regarding the alleged relationship.
Vrabel, by contrast, remains the Patriots’ head coach with full organizational backing. Quarterback Drake Maye has publicly defended him, and Vrabel received a standing ovation at a season-ticket-holder event. The NFL has also said it is not investigating him under any league policy.
However, whether the disparity in consequences remains this lopsided may depend on what Russini ultimately decides to share and when she decides to share it.
