Holger Rune’s Family Reacts to His Confirmed Return at the Hamburg Open

Rune, the World No. 29, played impressively in his 2025 season, reaching the quarterfinal rounds of the Shanghai Masters, Japan Open, Cincinnati Masters, and the HSBC Championships. He reached the final rounds of the Barcelona Open and the Indian Wells Masters and participated in the Australian Open, the Wimbledon Championships, and the US Open.

His 2025 season had a win-loss record of 36-22, ending prematurely after he tore his Achilles tendon during the Stockholm Open, playing against Ugo Humbert on Oct. 18, 2025. After the injury, he underwent surgery and then did restorative rehabilitation to make his successful comeback.

While aiming for his return, Rune also shared, “I’m so excited to get back. In training now, I can really put energy behind the ball again and it feels amazing. I’m looking forward to it and I think I’ll come back stronger and hopefully have many more perfect weeks in my career.”

His participation in the tournament was confirmed through the Bitpanda Hamburg Open’s official Instagram post. The event will be held from May 17 to 23 at the Rothenbaum Tennis Center, with Flavio Cobolli being the defending champion.

In the post, they added, “THE COMEBACK BEGINS 🔥 Holger Rune returns to the #bitpandahamburgopen Back on clay. Back to compete 🎾 Secure your tickets now! 🎟️ Link in bio.”

His comeback attracted heartwarming reactions from his parents, Aneke Rune and Anders Nodskov. His mother, CEO and founder of Waterpoint and Minicoolers drinking water systems, wrote, “❤️🙌,” and his father, CEO and founder of YachtZap, reflected, “🤍🤍👌🔥.”

Given his recovery from an injury that usually takes nine months to a year in high-impact sports, Rune also shared his excitement, adding, “The hard work starts in Hamburg. I can’t wait to be back on clay at the Bitpanda Hamburg Open and to finally experience the atmosphere on site again after such a long break.”

Apart from them, his sister, Alma, also shared her heartwarming reaction, commenting, “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

Throughout Rune’s journey, both on and off the court, his parents and sister have been his steadfast champions. Even as accomplished leaders themselves, his parents have fueled the Dane’s ascent with unwavering encouragement and guidance.
