Broncos Predicted As Top Landing Spot for 34-TD TE To Supercharge Bo Nix-Led Passing Attack

The Denver Broncos are predicted as a top landing spot for a veteran tight end to supercharge Bo Nix's passing attack.

The Denver Broncos don’t have many glaring holes heading into 2026, but if there’s one area that still feels unfinished, it’s tight end. With Bo Nix entering a crucial stage of his development, surrounding him with reliable, dynamic pass-catchers is no longer optional. That’s where David Njoku enters the conversation. A proven weapon with 34 career touchdowns, he’s suddenly one of the most intriguing free agents still on the board.

Connecting the Dots Between Tight End David Njoku and Denver

PFSN’s Alex Kennedy laid out the situation clearly, starting with the reality in Cleveland. “With rookie Harold Fannin Jr. exploding onto the scene for the Browns in 2025, David Njoku’s time with the team has come to an end. He acknowledged this in an Instagram post in February, thanking Cleveland fans for their support over the years and vowing that ‘the time for me to find a new home.’”

That departure isn’t about talent. It’s about timing, roster direction, and opportunity elsewhere.

Kennedy emphasized that Njoku still produces when healthy. “It remains unclear where that will be, but Njoku has shown he can still be a productive tight end when targeted. Njoku was a Pro Bowler in 2023, and he’s scored 8 touchdowns over the last two seasons, despite missing 11 games in that span, which is perhaps his biggest red flag at this point.”

Still, Kennedy pointed to encouraging signs beneath the surface. “His 5.7% drop rate in 2025 was the second-lowest of his nine seasons in Cleveland, too.”

For a quarterback like Nix, who is still developing timing and trust at the NFL level, reliability is everything. Kennedy also highlighted why this could be the perfect moment for a change of scenery.

“At 29 years old, it’s certainly possible that he could have a strong bounce-back campaign with another team, especially if he can stay healthy.”

The Broncos don’t need him to be the entire offense. They need him to elevate it with the other elements intact. With a relatively stable roster and emerging offensive identity, adding a vertical, athletic tight end could unlock more of Sean Payton’s system and give Nix a much-needed middle-of-the-field weapon.

So, who better than Njoku? In the last 5 seasons, Njoku has finished as a Top-5 tight end in two seasons (2022 and 2023), per the PFSN’s NFL TE impact rankings.

Across nine seasons, he has caught 384 catches for 4,062 yards and 34 touchdowns, starting 88 of 118 games. Even in an injury-hit 2025 campaign, he managed 33 catches for 293 yards and four scores in 12 games, while posting a 5.7% drop rate, the second-lowest of his career.

Over the past two seasons, he has totaled eight touchdowns despite missing 11 games, underlining both his red-zone value and durability concerns heading into free agency.

And the financial angle only strengthens the case. The longer Njoku remains unsigned, the more likely he is to land on a short-term, prove-it deal. That’s exactly the type of low-risk, high-upside move that contenders make to round out a roster.

So while nothing is finalized, the fit keeps making more sense. A quarterback who needs weapons. A tight end looking for a reset. And a window where both timelines align just enough to make this more than speculation.
