Davante Adams Trade Rumors Squashed by Adam Schefter After Rams Pay $6M Bonus

Adam Schefter ended Davante Adams trade speculation by noting the Rams' $6M bonus payment signals he's staying in Los Angeles.

Trade speculation around Davante Adams picked up steam after reports linked the Los Angeles Rams to A.J. Brown. The idea of a major receiver shakeup created buzz across the league and raised questions about Adams’ future in Los Angeles. That momentum did not last long.

Los Angeles Rams’ Actions Speak Louder than Trade Speculation

The Rams were linked to Brown in recent days. During those discussions, the possibility of moving Adams surfaced as a way to make a potential trade work. The concept centered on reshaping the receiver room around a younger core and adding a different style of playmaker. That window has now closed.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter squashed the situation on “The Pat McAfee Show”.

“They just paid him a $6 million roster bonus on Sunday. You’re not paying a $6 million bonus and then moving the guy the next day. That’s not happening anytime soon.”

Teams do not make that type of payment without a clear plan for the player to remain on the roster. Adams is also set to earn an $18 million base salary. Once the bonus was paid, any realistic trade scenario became far less likely.

Adams backed up that commitment with strong production in 2025.

In his first season with the Rams, he appeared in 14 games and recorded 60 receptions for 789 yards. He also led the NFL with 14 receiving touchdowns despite missing the final three regular-season games with a hamstring injury.

He is still a primary red-zone threat and a reliable target for quarterback Matthew Stafford. His route-running and timing remain elite traits that translate across any offensive system. But at 33, Adams is no longer viewed as a long-term building block.

The Rams built their offense around proven playmakers. Adams joined Puka Nacua as a key part of that structure. Head coach Sean McVay’s system depends on precision and trust at the receiver position. Adams fits that profile and gives the offense stability.

Trade speculation created buzz. Brown with the Rams would have been a fantasy booking that would likely have produced strong numbers. But it seems the Rams have moved on.

Eagles Add Marquise Brown as Trade Rumors Around A.J. Brown Continue

The Eagles made a notable move by signing Marquise Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $6.5 million. The addition gives the offense a speed element it lacked and provides flexibility as questions continue to surround Brown’s future.

Brown brings proven burst and vertical ability, traits that can expand the offense and create space for other playmakers.

Trade speculation involving Brown has not fully gone away despite the Rams stepping out of discussions. The New England Patriots remain a team to watch, as they look to add a top target for Drake Maye.
