Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz recently wrapped up their campaigns at the 2026 Indian Wells Masters. Following the conclusion of the tournament in California, Coco Gauff’s former coach, Brad Gilbert, commented on an impressive statistic involving the top two ATP players in the world.

Sinner won the 2026 Indian Wells Masters by defeating Daniil Medvedev with a scoreline of 7-6(6), 7-6(4), securing his sixth ATP Masters 1000 title. On his way to the final, he overcame Dalibor Svrčina, Denis Shapovalov, João Fonseca, Learner Tien, and Alexander Zverev.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz defeated Grigor Dimitrov, Arthur Rinderknech, Casper Ruud, and Cameron Norrie before losing to the eventual runner-up, Medvedev, in the semifinals at Tennis Paradise.

After the tournament, a statistic emerged: in the past 18 tournaments since the 2024 French Open, any event featuring either Sinner or Alcaraz has been won by one of them. Notably, all singles Grand Slam titles from the 2024 French Open through the 2025 US Open have been claimed by either Sinner or Alcaraz.
Reacting to this dominating statistic involving Sinner and Alcaraz, Gilbert described the trend as a streak.

Looking ahead, Sinner and Alcaraz are scheduled to compete in the 2026 Miami Open, which will take place from March 17 to March 29, 2026. The matches will be held on outdoor hard courts at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Both players are seeded in the ATP Masters 1000 hard-court tournament and will begin their campaigns in the second round after receiving first-round byes.
In addition to Sinner and Alcaraz, players such as Novak Djokovic, Zverev, Ben Shelton, Medvedev, Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, Félix Auger-Aliassime, Ruud, and defending champion Jakub Menšík are also expected to compete in Florida.

Sinner’s best result at the Miami Open came in 2024 when he won the title by defeating Dimitrov in the final. He has also finished as the runner-up twice, in 2021 and 2023, losing to Hubert Hurkacz and Medvedev in those championship matches.
On the other hand, Alcaraz achieved his best result at the ATP Masters 1000 hard-court tournament in Florida in 2022, when he defeated Ruud in the final to become the youngest men’s singles champion in the tournament’s history.
