NFL World Reacts to Wan’Dale Robinson Agreeing To Reunite With Brian Daboll for $78M: ‘The Worst Kept Secret’

Titans made a big move in free agency in the form of Wan'Dale Robinson. Here's how the analysts reacted to Brian Daboll reuniting with the WR.

The main focus for the Tennessee Titans is to help their young quarterback, Cam Ward, develop. Ward showed flashes in his rookie year, but he has some improvements to make. The Titans made a move in free agency to help the quarterback as they have agreed on a deal with wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson.

Why Wan’Dale Robinson Is a Good Yet Expected Move

The contract that the Titans are signing Robinson for is “a four-year, $78 million deal that includes $38 million guaranteed,” according to Adam Schefter.

Before becoming the offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll was the New York Giants’ Head Coach. In New York, receiver Wan’Dale Robinson had a lot of success under Daboll. Now, the pair is back in Tennessee.

With the connections, this was a move many saw coming. As Malik Wright wrote, “Probably the worst-kept secret.” However, it is still impressive that the Titans were able to land him.

With all of the speculation, another team could have swooped in and signed Robinson. However, Robinson is headed to Nashville to make a great duo with Ward.

Robinson has had success in the NFL, especially in the slot. As ESPN NFL Nation writer Turron Davenport put it, “Slot specialist heading to the Titans.” Robinson has great speed and agility, which makes him so effective in the slot.

The Titans had some good playmakers last year, but they played more on the outside, such as wideouts Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor. Also, Dike, Ayomanor, and Robinson are a very young core for Ward to play and develop with. Robinson is the “oldest” of the group at only 25 years old.

Another exciting factor is that Robinson is just getting going in his NFL career. AS ESPN NFL Nation reporter Jordan Raanan put it, “Robinson had over 1,000 yards last season for the Giants and is an ascending player.”

Bryce DeGroat also added onto this idea by saying “that (Robinson) has only gotten better each year.

With the Titans hiring head coach Robert Saleh as their head coach, their defense should be good. Saleh had the 49ers’ defense playing great last year despite key injuries. So while the Titans’ defense should be good, there were questions about the offense. However, bringing in Robinson is a great way to shore up that unit of the field.

While everything is positive in Tennessee, it is a loss for the Giants. As the TalkinGiants Twitter account pointed out, “Expected but Wan’Dale Robinson is no longer a Giant.” The Giants still do have Malik Nabers, who graded out as a B and ranked 15th in his only season in the NFL in 2204 according to PFSN’s WR Impact Metric.

Overall, Robinson is a great move to the Titans and should help the team moving forward.
