Tristan Jarry Makes His Thoughts Clear After Oilers’ Crushing 6–3 Defeat Against Hurricanes

Tristan Jarry reacts after the Oilers’ 6–3 loss to the Hurricanes, sharing honest thoughts on his performance and Edmonton’s struggles.

The Edmonton Oilers entered Friday looking to respond after continued inconsistency throughout the season. But the story remained the same: the night ended with another home loss.

The Carolina Hurricanes responded early and pulled ahead late in the game. As a result, the focus turned to Edmonton’s goaltending and Tristan Jarry’s comments after the defeat.

Oilers Goalie Tristan Jarry Breaks Silence After 6–3 Loss to Hurricanes

The Oilers lost 6–3 to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday at Rogers Place. Carolina secured its 40th win of the season after a strong push in the third period that separated the game. Jackson Blake scored twice in the final period, while K’Andre Miller recorded three assists during the matchup.

Edmonton opened the scoring when Zach Hyman finished a breakaway opportunity early in the game. Hyman later added another goal and finished the night with two, but Carolina continued to create chances as the game moved forward.

Tristan Jarry started in goal for Edmonton and made 26 saves during the game. Carolina scored four goals before adding two late ones that widened the final margin.

The Oilers created scoring chances at times, but the Hurricanes controlled several key stretches that shaped the outcome. They also limited the Oilers to just 16 shots.

After the game, Jarry spoke with reporters and discussed his performance.

“I thought I was a little better tonight,” Jarry said. “Obviously, I think there’s still room to improve. I think that I could still do a better job of giving the team and putting them in a better spot. Some unlucky bounces here or there, but I think I could still be better.”

Jarry explained that several technical areas felt better during the game, especially when dealing with screened shots and plays that required quick movement across the crease.

“I think just some of the open shooting, some of the screen play, some of the lateral stuff. I thought that was better tonight.” Jarry said.

The Oilers spent much of the night playing from behind, making it difficult to control the pace. Jarry said the team prefers to play with a lead because it allows the roster to play to its strengths.

“Yeah, that’s the toughest part,” Jarry said. “I think we want to be playing with a lead. I think with the personnel that we have in here, that’s the best way to play. Obviously, it starts with me, and I think putting the guys and giving them a chance to be in that position starts with the goalie.”

When asked whether he felt more comfortable than in earlier appearances, Jarry said the focus remains on daily improvement while accepting the demands of the league.

“You have to be better,” Jarry said. “It’s a challenging league and it’s a humbling league, and every night you can’t take it for granted.”

Jarry joined Edmonton earlier this season in a December trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Since arriving with the Oilers, he has formed a tandem with Connor Ingram, but the team continues to search for stronger results in goal.
