It’s March 6, and the NHL is animated by anticipation of upcoming moves. Front offices across the league have the final opportunity to straighten their rosters out and go full throttle at the playoff push. Social media is rife with speculation at the moment, and according to an insider, an Edmonton Oilers goaltender is among the several names that have appeared in a high-strung goalie market at the cusp of the deadline.
Oilers Goalie Connor Ingram’s Future Could Lie Elsewhere at Trade Deadline
In another riveting twist to the Oilers’ never-ending goalie discourse, Kevin Weekes shared on social media that goalie Connor Ingram has been discussed as a potential deadline move. The goalie market overall seems quite lively with Sergei Bobrovsky, Jesper Wallstedt, Jordan Binnington, and Anthony Stolarz, among others.

Despite a history riddled with personal issues and mental health struggles, Stan Bowman took a leap of faith by acquiring Ingram. Bowman gave Ingram a lifeline, and the 28-year-old has done a decent job of living up to expectations so far.
In his first few appearances, Ingram delivered one fantastic performance after another, aiding the Oilers in securing wins. Although he may have lost that momentum over the course of the season, the news of him as a potential trade asset may come as a surprise to many. Over 17 games with the Oilers, Ingram has registered a SV% of .890.
Notwithstanding the noise around Ingram, Bowman stated that the Oilers might not be open to making big roster changes at the deadline. “I would imagine that we’re done. I don’t expect to make other moves. But part of our job is to see what’s out there. But I think, looking at where we’re at, I think any further addition wouldn’t be a significant one,” the Oilers GM explained, as reported by Sportsnet.
However, despite the GM’s clarification, Oilers fans would no doubt welcome a trade to fix the goaltending situation. Bobrovsky has played a critical role in the Florida Panthers’ slaying of the Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final two years in a row. With his future being discussed, Edmonton could pursue the veteran with extensive playoff experience.
However, Bobrovsky has a massive cap hit, and that could be a bone of contention for the Oilers. Moreover, the veteran netminder is objectively having his worst season in a very long time.
All the discourse aside, the Oilers’ goaltending remains inconsistent, and it is the team’s foremost issue. Trading Stuart Skinner for Tristan Jarry did not solve the pesky issue overnight. The management has long been linked with Nashville’s Juuse Saros. Saros’ trade restriction does not kick off until the seventh year of his contract.
Theoretically, Edmonton could acquire Saros and Filip Forsberg from the Nashville Predators in return for Darnell Nurse and Jarry, though that would require Nurse to waive his no-movement clause.
