Tiafoe vs Cobolli Head-to-Head

This will be the third time Tiafoe and Cobolli will be playing each other, with the American having a 2-0 lead in the head-to-head. The last time they played, Tiafoe won 6-1, 6-4 at the Citi DC Open in Washington last year.

Tiafoe started her campaign in Acapulco with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Nuno Borges in the first round, followed by a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7) win over compatriot Aleksandar Kovacevic in the second round, where the eighth seed had to save a couple of match points to win the match.

In the quarterfinals, he put forward another routine performance, winning 6-3, 6-4 against Mattia Bellucci, after which he had to play against Brandon Nakashima in the semifinals. Despite Nakashima having the opportunity to serve the match out, Tiafoe recovered to win 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-4.

Cobolli started with a fine 7-6 (3), 7-6 (3) win over the crowd favorite, Rodrigo Pacheco Méndez, in the first round in Acapulco, followed by a 6-4, 6-4 win over Dalibor Svrčina in the second round. In the quarterfinals, the Italian had another straight-set victory over the Chinese qualifier, Wu Yibing, winning 7-6 (4), 6-1. In the semifinals, he dropped a set against Miomir Kecmanović but won 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-4.

Tiafoe vs Cobolli Prediction

Tiafoe won 60 percent of the service points and 35 percent of the return points in his semifinal match against Nakashima. The American started slowly in the first set, especially on serve, as he won only 53 percent of the first serve points in the set.

However, in the deciding set, the American raised his level, winning 81 percent of the first serve points and breaking Nakashima’s serve twice. He overall hit 37 winners and made 31 unforced errors, but in the third set, he had 16 winners and 10 unforced errors.

Against Kecmanović, Cobolli won 62 percent of the service points along with 34 percent of the return points. The fifth seed got broken four times in the match, but broke his opponent’s serve four times as well. He was effective in second-serve situations, winning 50 percent of the second-serve points and winning 46 percent of the points on his opponent’s second serve.

A lot will depend on Tiafoe, who is coming into the final after a grueling semifinal match. However, the American player has fought back from improbable positions at this event and has the head-to-head advantage over Cobolli, making him the slight favorite to win the title.

Pick– Tiafoe to win in three sets.
