Diego Pavia wasn’t always the household name college football fans know today. His rise wasn’t fueled by five-star hype or early Power Four offers; it was built through production, resilience, and an unshakable belief in himself. From the JUCO ranks to the Group of Five, and eventually the SEC, one thing never changed: Pavia produced everywhere he went.
JUCO Career: New Mexico Military Institute (2020–2022)
By the time his college career ended, Pavia had rewritten record books and proven that betting against him was a mistake. From junior college to New Mexico State and finally Vanderbilt, he followed an unconventional path, finishing as the quarterback who helped revive a long-struggling Commodores program and turn it into national news.
Before Power Four stadiums and SEC defenses, Pavia cut his teeth at NMMI, where he immediately established himself as a dual-threat force.
In his final season in 2021, Pavia led NMMI to the NJCAA National Football Championship, throwing 21 touchdowns with just one interception during the title run.
He won a championship, cementing his status as one of the top JUCO quarterbacks in the country. Following the 2021 season, Pavia transferred to New Mexico State, ready for the next step.
