Is Davante Adams Injured? A Look at the Rams Star’s Injury Status Amid Slow Start in NFC Title Game

Davante Adams is off to a slow start for the Los Angeles Rams as they face off against the Seattle Seahawks. Here's the latest on his status.

The Los Angeles Rams are facing the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship, and it’s been a heated battle so far. This was expected, given that these two teams are division rivals and among the best in the NFL. On the Rams’ side, something interesting that was seen in last week’s game is happening again.

Early in the game, star wide receiver Davante Adams has not been involved much.

What Happened to Davante Adams?

Last week against the Chicago Bears, Adams started slowly, and this week against the Seahawks, it happened again. In the first quarter, Adams was not targeted once. As of now, it seems that Adams is completely healthy, so that rules out an injury as the reason for this slow start.

Being the #2 option for the Rams, the veteran star WR is a massive part of the offense, so there is an expectation he will get involved throughout the game, especially in a game like the NFC Championship. Per PFSN’s WR Impact Metric, even with Puka Nacua (who is ranked first among all WRs), Adams is 18th in targets and leads all WRs with 14 touchdowns this season. Adams is a difference maker in the Rams’ offense.

In addition, a reason why Adams may be having a slow start is the defense they are facing. This season, according to PFSN’s Defensive Impact Metric, the Seahawks are ranked #3 overall and 2nd in red zone defense.

They are a very dynamic defense that can easily stop teams from scoring, but they are also great at stopping big plays. This season, Seattle ranks 1st (1.48 yards!) in yards per play. Defensive success like this changes outcomes of games, and it can also stop a WR like Adams from having big days.

It will be difficult to force Adams into the game and get him the ball, but he may be the perfect WR to rely on. Yes, Nacua is the top option, but the Seahawks will give him heavy attention throughout the game. So, that leaves Adams as an option that may have a better chance of being open or making the big play, even though Seattle is good at stopping that.

Time will tell if that happens, but if the Rams want to make the Super Bowl, they need to get Adams involved more
